I didn't even notice...

I wont tell you about a telephone call I received from him yesterday then.

Would shatter that illusion very quickly. :D

I might have to pay you out (intentionally ambiguous).

How about I talk to Big Red and see if he'll have a drink with you on a Saturday? 6 October is looking good.

And what do you like about Kaluza-Klein theory?

Some of the assumptions are rather tidy.

From a mathematical perspective...

I'm more familiar with quantum mechanics than relativity (more maths and chemistry than physics at uni).

The wave and particle theories of light made me wonder a bit.

Any theory that attempts to unify e-m and relativity is just incredible.

So Klein assuming that the fifth dimension would have a totally different topology was a bit of a Eureka moment (and thinking outside the square, so to speak, in more ways than one).

The whole thing is rather elegant.

To tell you the truth, the only maths that I actually liked was third year fluid mechanics.

It was a bit like deriving Newton's laws from mathematical principles. The first time you do it, it blows your mind!

At least i don't have an entire thread broadcasting every thought that happens to pop into my head.

*cough* Daniel's Den. *cough* ;)

I thought Paddington Bear eating Marmite was very poignant!

:p:p:p:p

Why does this thread remind me of my dog's,( Jack and Pooch plus Oscar who we are babysitting), when they have a peeing contest and smell each other's butts. Pretty sure none of them studied applied science.
