If one is tallying tipping results, what the hell do I do with a draw?

1, 0? 0.5????

If you could post a link to an on-line tipping competition as well that'd be super :)

Its up to the administrator of the tipping competition. It makes no difference of course, as its the same for everyone in the competition. Unless of course people can tip draws, although even if they can they usually don't, and seldom get it correct.

Personally I would allow tipping draws and give zero for tippers who tipped a side in a drawn match. There are possible three results for a match, you have to pick the right one.

Half points can be annoying, since you're no longer working with whole numbers. Although I can see the sense in awarding them. You didn't tip the winner but you didn't tip the loser either.

The online tipping competition I'm in (www.realfooty.com) awards one point for tipping a team in a drawn match. I can't see the logic in this. Perhaps its just because they don't allow you to tip draws.

So there are three different lines of thinking, you just have to decide what you're most comfortable with. The really annoying thing is that different tipping comps do things differently. So it can make it difficult in doing cross-comparions. For instance, I often like to compare how I'm going to the newspaper tipsters. However if there have been say, two draws, I don't know if they've been awarded 0, 1 or 2 points for these two matches. :(

In our tipping comp at work it's a big fat zero for a draw, because as Dave said there are 3 possible results.

Having said that, there's nothing wrong with giving every tipster 1 for that game because it doesn't alter the tipster's relative positions one iota.

Don't bother about the 0.5 option because it only makes your life more difficult.

0 or 1 - doesn't matter.

I've been thinking of counting it as a correct tip, and that's what I'll do.

I'm one half of the comp anyway so it's not that big a deal.

Thanks fellas.

When I've run comps ive usually given 0 for a draw but 5 for a correctly tipped draw, my siter did it once when she decided it would be fun to pick every game as a draw, worked out 5 was enough to win it for that week too.
