What a recruit...
Today this guy really showed that he can play. If it wasn't for his 2 knee reco's I dare say he would be amongst the elite of the competition. He's still somwhat recovering and will only get better. I remember Leigh Matthews being super dissapointed at Hadley's decision to leave and Matthews is not one to waste his words...
He brings a real toughness and agression that I think we have been lacking in the past..the guy is a tackling machine and presented really well up around the wing and HF i felt. Not to mention kicking a super goal. He only had 17 possesions today but was at 100% effectiveness, which is no easy feat.

When I buy my new Carlton jumper this week, I think I might just slap the number 10 on the back!

Loving your work Hads!!!

super thread. he is a kinda big fella, goes in hard, gets the ball out to the murphs and judds and stevos who can deliver it to fev's chest. his tackles stick too.

keeping bentick out of the side IMO.

great recruit.

What options to have Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and Simmo running in the midfield and then having a rotation and Stevens and Hadley come in to the mix.

Brings confidence to the players.

A good solid addition.

Hadley introduces a certain 'testicular' element to the Carlton side, of crucial importance, as it helps cancel out the oestrogen provided by Russell and Houlihan.

Yeah he is turning out to be a great pick up for us and we got him for almost nothing. I would go as far as to say that he is going to be bigger than Judd for us. Some of the little things he did today was awesome just giving that extra protection to the Gibb's and Murphy etc was great to see.

Awesome pickup....have been very impressed with him and gets better with every game. Thrash Melbourne next week and we could be in the eight.

Brilliant move to recruit him - he needed a fresh start at a new club and boy am I glad it's with the Blues.

Not noted for his skills or brilliance, but he's a big, strong midfielder, who goes in hard all the time. He's a fantastic addition to our midfield and is really playing well.

I was a little concerned about playing him from round 1 but he's done nothing but impress and stamp his presence as an important midfield cog.

Played excellently today. Went in hard all day long. Not only that, he didn't stop running. I watched him closely for a while, and he was running from one side of the G to the other, just to present - what a great sign.

Well done Richard on a great start to the year, and well done to the coaching staff for having the confidence in the guy to make an immediate impact to our side.

Bentick is going to find it tough to break into the side, which is unfortunate, but it's for the best.

he's only going to get Better like Judd will be shame we din;'t get Judd when he first went into the draft when picked by Wce ;)
like Stevens a good pickup as well
so Richard should have a good year ;)

I just reckon it's so underrated what he adds to the team...adds a new dimension to the midfield. A true in and under type that never shirks a contest and isnt let down by shitty disposal and knows how to kick a goal. As good as Murphy, Judd, Stevens, Simpson, Carazzo, Scotland and Gibbs are IMO none are TRUE in and under midfielders and this guy is a taller, faster, more poised version of Adam Bentick. Haven't really had a player like this since Fraser Brown!

Not sure whose notes you are refering to J........Hadley has top class skills by hand and foot.

Liked his game very much like most others....took a couple of important grabs, fought hard inside the packs and made every tackle count.

Bentick will really struggle tp push past him and they are unlikely to play both.......as for Blackers......you may as well have said goodbye last season.

He was great again today. Just brings some real hardness to the team, but he has some great skill as well. Was right in front of him when he kicked that goal to the Ponsford Stand end, and as soon as the ball left his foot, it was always going straight over the goal umpires head.

The great thing is my midfield in my dream teams include:

Judd - $500,000 (approx)

VALUE

Stevens and Hadley - $375,00 (approx)

Great Value

I kept saying all summer how excited i was about how good this pick up was gonna be, and have not been let down yet!

A lot of Lions fans were very sad to see him leave!

i dont refer to him as 'sir richard hadley' for nothing either........ the man has class and brute!! i agree fantastic pick up his work ethic is also fantastic!

To be as aggressive as he's shown so far and able to kick goals on the run is exactly what we've been lacking in recent years.

With the depth in our midfield stocks and the confidence our defence showed today PLUS a the ladder showing a few runaway teams and then the pack, you just never know.

Today was the first significant step on the field in at least 5 years! :)
