Ian Brewer

It is with sadness that I report the passing of Ian Brewer, full forward in Collingwood's 1958 premiership victory, a year in which he was also the VFL's leading goalkicker.

He played 84 games and kicked 164 goals for Collingwood from 1956 to 1961, and was made a Collingwood Life Member in 2008.

I knew him as a champion full forward for my SANFL club Norwood, he and Peter Hudson are my boyhood heroes.

I just thought those of you interested in club history should know.

Thanks mate. Sad news. I think he was Ross' brother who I recall kicking the winner over his head in a semi v Fitzroy in the Hafey days.

I couldn't remember if it was a son or brother, but I certainly remember Ross kicking that goal. It was the 1st semi in 1981. 3.40 or so in the video below.
