What do you guys think of him?

Is he ever going to cut it, or is he just taking up space until an adequate repalcement comes along?

What position is he best suited to?

Shoudl you trade him before his value falls any further?

Thanks Kane

So I take it the consensus is
Hes not a backman
Sack/trade him if possible.

Perrie played a handful of very good games this year. Most of his games were crap though, I have never seen a player drop so many easy marks. In one game McLeod drilled the ball right into his chest three times, and all three times the ball bounced off his chest before he could get his hands up to it.

Someone who commits such basic errors is never going to be a great player. He's still relatively young and I'm sure will improve but how much?

I think Ian has made progress this year. Early in the year when Stevo & Wayne were both out - Ian held up our forward line pretty well. Unfortunately when they came back - Ian struggled to fit into our formula.

I wouldn't trade him - I think he is a handy backup and with another year under Wayne's wing I think he can improve further.

Can't agree that we shouldn't trade him. Conversely I think it's important that we do.

He has come along well this year - great improver.

But he hasn't got the footy smarts and natural skills to make it any further and we should capitalize on the good year that he's had.

Next year we should be promoting Hentschel, Rutten and maybe Bock to develop them in the spot taken by Perrie.

Perrie is a WA boy and I would be approaching Freo about the possibility of a trade for croad which would give us the key tall that Ayresy says is a priority.

West Coast are desperate for key forwards and I would be loooking for a trade with them for one of their lesser ruckmen - Cox or Seaby - preferably the youger developing Seaby - to get the marking ruckman that Ayresy also says is a priority.

I've come around to trading Perrie for the reasons macca23 said.

But not for that soft**** Croad!

I'd be more interested in Justin Longmuir.

He's had a poor year as well. So his stocks may be down a bit.
As bad as his season has been this year, he would still cost an arm and a leg. Players of his talent and size don't grow on trees.

It would take a HELL of a LOT more than Perrie to get JLo to the Crows.

Something along the lines of Stenglein, Perrie and pick 14 is closer to the mark.

Forget it then. Longmuir's done far too little in his first five years to warrant giving up that much.

Would you do that trade Stiffy??

Id be happy to do #14 and Stenglein, tho maybe Perrie aswell might be too much.. unless they want to throw us croad in a seperate deal..which is another topic all together.

The bottom line is we might be overpaying now, but tall young KPP that can kick goals are rarely available and if a deal like that was on the table we would propably be severely interested.

Like you I think Perrie would be a bit much in that deal but pick 14 and Stenglein, I would really consider.

JLo can play in the ruck as well. I would really consider it.

If Freo let JLo go then they would keep Croad.

Shirley has emerged as a very good tagger this year but he is not big enough for the likes of Voss, Buckey and Hird. :(

That, of course, is assuming that your coach would actually put a tagger on Voss in the second round of the finals!!

BINGO

I totally agree.

His value won't get much higher (but it could very quickly drop and drop a long way). He's had a fantastic year by his standards and tall forwards are hot comodities. We could get a better player with the draft pick we could get for Perrie. Other teams will want him because he is an immmediate solution to the bottom teams with no key forward depth. The Bulldogs would be a prime candidate. I'd take the Dogs 2nd round pick (around #20)in an instant for Perrie. Actually I would probably accept much less even.

I doubt we will, though. We don't take these types of risks. We are a 'safe' club. And the safe thing to do would be to keep all our key forwards.

There are several clubs desperate for tall marking forwards, which Perrie, in theory fits the criteria (e.g. Doggies, Geelong)

I say trade him now, he'll never be worth more.
