ibbotson = forward?

Ibbo's role this weekend will be interesting, who goes to Betts and Garlett? Those two along with Judd, Murphy and Yarran are the key match ups and we don't have a lot of options. Mayne played well for a half on Goddard so might try to expose Yarran this week.

Ibbo has been very decent down back.

I laugh at those mocking him, I'd rather him in than Suban or Duffield on current form.

Agree with that but the one thing Suban has over the other two is confidence inside 50. Duffield and Ibbo shit their pants too often one out in the marking contest.

I don't know if it 'shitting their pants' or just the fact that both Ibbo and Duffman like to get a bit of space on their opponent (so they can run off) and are caught out by our turnovers or lack of cover up the field.

Next time someone takes a mark on either of them hit rewind. Defenders obviously get caught out of position all the time but the good ones stay in the contest while it's written all over Ibbotson and Duffield's face that they're in trouble when the ball's in the air and they've already conceded mentally before the mark is taken.

Duffield yes, Ibbotson no. I don't see this with Ibbo.

Duffield is the worst "defender" I've seen in a long time.

Has absolutely no ability to physically impose himself on the contest.

Yep you can't imagine Duffield doing a shut down job on anyone, but Ibbo has had numerous quality negating games.

Said this a year ago (not on BF) and got chewed out by one of the Dockerland cognoscenti. He seriously has as much defensive ability as my aunt (not going to besmirch my mum).

Ibbo to me has been pretty good.
Hopefully who ever plays on Yarran,we utilize them on the way back.

Agree - Duff is just not a good 1/1 defender.

Duff needs the right team around him, however at the moment he is just horribly out of form.

Ibbo has been good in the 1/1's though it is hardly a strength.

I would card Clay but as I don't know what the words mean ....I will play it safe and say stop being fastidious.

Agree that Duffield might, but Ibbo is usually solid unless he's on a key position sized player or resting ruckman, which is a sign of poor matching up to me so not Ibbo's fault directly. Against smalls and mids I think he's actually very good over head.

He seems slow witted gennerally, but quite often he does a very desperate tackle or he will hit a loose ball extremely hard. Keep an eye on him, he is actually really suited to the hbf role.

His 1-2 brain fades a game just kills him though. He would actually be a very good player if he could iron them out

Utterly disagree he is slow witted. Ive always thought if you watch him on TV as opposed to at the games he is the type of player you get very different pictures of. Ive been to a couple of games where the heat has been on our defence and besides McPharlin he seemed to me to be the only one trying to be constructive coming out of defense. Honestly people watch him closely, his eyes in particular next time youre at a game. No good doing it on TV cos you cant see what the situation up field is.

And 1-2 brain fades.. pretty par isnt it? Really think he is the type of player who gets a bit better each year, and by the time he is about 27 will be considered very good.

To the OP, never know but never thought his marking or crumbing good enough to play as an outright forward.
