Starts in a few hours!

Australia v Pakistan (Mon 3:30am AEST)
Australia v Bangladesh (Thurs 3am AEST)

Group B

Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe (Mon 11:30pm AEST)
New Zealand v Zimbabwe (Tues 11:30pm AEST)

Group C

India v Afghanistan (Sat 11:30pm AEST)
India (2) v South Africa (1) (Sun 11:30pm AEST)
South Africa v Afghanistan (Thu 7am AEST)

Group D

West Indies (1) v Ireland (Sat 7am AEST)
England (2) v West Indies (Tue 3:30am AEST)
England v Ireland (Wed 3:30am AEST)

A1,B2,C1,D2 then go into 1 group and A2,B1,C2,D1 go into the other group for the "Super 8 phase" however the numbers correspond with the numbers next to the teams above, meaning that even if say Pakistan finish 2nd in their group - they still get A1. So A1 is automatically Pakistan unless they finish bottom of the group in which case Australia becomes A1, even if they finished 2nd.

If it went on seeds it would produce Pakistan, NZ, SA, England in one group and Bangladesh,Sri Lanka, India and West Indies in the other. It would seem that Australia replacing either of the other group teams is going to be the only possible change to that.

Points earned in the group stage do not carry over to the super 8 phase.

If I have got my understanding of the rules wrong - blame the ICC.

All games are live on the various Fox Sports channels.

Nice to see the Kiwis winning the first match. Excellent nerve-holding by Nathan McCallum.

With Ryder back, the Kiwis have some big hitters all through their line-up.

hopefully aussies can improve their away record in 20/20's (5-12-1-1 compared to 10-0 at home).

my understanding is we must beat one of pakistan/bangladesh to proceed to the super 8's, then assuming the seeds go thru, having to beat 2 of sri lanka, west indies and india to progress to the semi final.

WHAT? Channel Nine is showing nothing????

Shows how serious this form of the game is being taken by TV Networks and pretty much in this country.

West Indies belted the Irish in the late game. First game tomorrow will attract the attention with Afghanistan entering the fray.

I think we'll go out in the Super 8. Our batting strength should get us that far anyway, but our lack of slow bowling will cost us once there unless MJ has more than one blinder.

They look reasonably put together, capable of competing with Bangladesh it would appear.

Two big games tonight, India v SA and Australia v Pakistan, SA should beat India and the Aussies to be run close by the Pakis but will come out on top.

I don't like the format. The semi-final and final being sudden death in such a fluky format means there's too much luck involved IMO.

That's what I do like about the format.

Even cricinfo is sledging Clarkey about his batting.

"David Warner is a tiny man with massive power and a huge job at the top of Australia's order. Warner must give Australia a swift start to allow Michael Clarke, the No.3, to have a base from which he can feel comfortable chipping the ball around."

:D

Sometimes I see Warner and think maybe he is mates with Barry Bonds.

That was a ridiculously bad last over from Australia. How the hell is Johnson coming in ahead of a bloke like Smith?

Funny last over for the Aussies. 5 wickets, and a maiden.

Good win, a really good total we got to, and it is very hard to chase down around 200. Watson was great, as was Dussey.

Good win by India too, all on the back of Raina who was slaying them.

LOL at Kallis and Smith digging SA such a big hole during that run chase. Very poor batting to let the RR required get so high with so many overs remaining, and 9 wickets in hand.

A quintuple wicket maiden to finish the Aussie innings... wow. Batting order looks tailor made to take advantage of good starts by Warner and Robot (Clarke aside of course).

Surely the 5 wickets must be some sort of record?
