are we too tall...??
will cotchin come in at the expense of maybe Pattison?

is this a possability? as we wont bring in schulz or JON

If it rains heavily, Pattison is one of the first picked.

In the wet, there are many more contests. You need big bodies. Patto is an excellent 'scrapper' on the ground, makes things happen. Also, being mobile, he can get to a lot of the contests.
It is the one area I think we have an advantage over the Cats (with Simmons), and the wet actually increases that advantage.
Plus there are a large number of ball-ups, throw-ins in the wet- must have at least two ruckmen.

I'd probably favor Schulz over Cotchin for the same reasons.

But this is 2008 - it will probably only be light drizzle.

Remember taht match against some team in which they say it will pour down like piss?
It never happened.
So for the time being, ____ the rain. There's more important stuff to focus on then rain and the weather.

rarely such a thing as wet-weather football anymore.
No cricket picthes full of mud, the drainage on the grounds is 1st class and the footballs themselves are more conducive to rain.
the only way rain has an influence is if it's actually bucketing down at the time, and even then, when it stops, the ground is dry again 15 minutes later and the ball is likewise.
It rarely rains for hours on end in Melbourne.

Spot on. Wet or dry the Cats are a class above. Only hope is our speed, but we will more often that not just kick it to the Cats anyway so it won't matter.

I dont think speed will worry the cats too much, people suggest the bigger bodies of the cats midfielders will kill us in the wet, but our contested footy has been our biggest asset this season. Geelong move the ball better than any other side and a wet weather game will somewhat negate this advantage. We would still be unlikely to win, but i feel our chances would improve if it rained.

Well, it is wet (and heavy) - overall bad for us.

1. I reckon in the wet, the better players (particularly the more skilled players) make the difference. After much exhaustive analysis, I believe Geelong may be the tiniest bit more skilled than us.

2. Speed is probably our most potent weapon. Well, bugger that, then.

I think either Patto or Polak will be dropped for Jacko to come in ...will be very heavy going today...Not ideal for mark/kick players..Polak out for mine

I agree. I don't think the rain will help us. The days of mudheaps that bring the top teams back to the pack are pretty much over. Nowdays on the good grounds the teams with better skills benefit in the wet. Although if it is absolutely belting down,we are good in the stoppages, but we are up against one of the best teams in this area.

I love Cotchin so much. Would've preferred Polak to get ____ed and Patto to stay though. Hitouts were 15 to 44 in Geelong's favour. FIFTEEN TO FOURTY FOUR! We were supposed to dominate the ruck today.
