Firstly let me say Freo have some tough games ahead so I'm well aware of the losses that will inevitably come, however.

After watching you guys demolish us in the second half last week (yes I know it was a Derby) I decided to pay a bit of attention to how you guys might back that up away to Carlton the following week. I was impressed.

I'm not going to sit here and analise play by play moments and structures except to mention one small occurrence that probably went unnoticed by the vast majority and meant even less to the uneducated.

There was a particular passage of play during the game where Schammer took an at pace contested possession and was immediately tackled by not one but two Carlton players. I watched him not only not panic, but glance over his shoulder just prior to possession and again during the tackle to see where team-mates were placed. As he was thrown to ground he purposely slipped the ball under his armpit as he hit the deck and squeezed it out to three waiting teammates forward of the contest. Needless to say Freo won possession.

Such a small incident but to those who have played a bit a footy incredibly telling. The input of Haselby around Schammer has been enormous since he's come back and someone, I don't know who, has instilled something that wasn't there not so long ago. It takes presence of mind, clarity under pressure, confidence and will power for the above to be performed successfully and dare I say it only 6 weeks ago it was still beyond Schammer. Not any more.

The Dockers have found some genuine cleverness, seemingly throughout the group, combined with some pace and a slightly harder at the ball edge, I'm guessing much of it can be credited to Harvey or at least his ability to put the right people in the right places to get it all happening.

Our Eagles midfield for example has a much longer road to travel before some of our youngsters will even understand how critical it is to perform these moves at every contest let alone be able to complete them.

I know it's been said before, but not by me. There is definitely a wind of change blowing down Freo way.

I'm picturing this side with the likes of Headland, Palmer, Mayne etc still to come back in, if they can find a spot.

Again it's been said before but things are looking good down Freo way for the near future.

Thanks for that !! I tend to agree, we missed Hase last year, and now we all remember why. He is elite, and Schammer has stepped up.
We've got a good cahnce against Hawthorn, but the six day turnaround si a big issue, but we will also have Ballantyne ready soon as well, so the competition for spots will be more obvious.
Sandilands - killing it !!

PS I don't like your call on Dessie, but I'll let it go.
He could be very important to our structure !

I don't doubt the value he can add to your structure as a player, that's why I listed him. But he is a headcase

Fremantle fans owe the Swans big time as we are the ones which awoke the Dockers from their sleep (the Swans are good at that). If it wasnt for Sydney you mob still wouldnt have won a game yet. I hope your grateful.

Now remember that you owe us and that is a debt we intend to collet on so when the Swans are next in horrid form i expect Fremantle will help us get out of it.

Ahh no..

Was St.Kilda smashing us that woke us up and made us play good football against you.

Kthxbi!

finally people are seeing how good Dodd is as a 1 on 1 defender an arent blinded by his terrible ball use.
Ive always said he is very good 1 on 1 defender the reason he gets called useless is he gets too much of the ball and is a poor user of it.
Now that they have stopped using him so much on the way out of defense people are seeing how good he is defensively for us.

Good Victory Boys, what a pleasure it is to see the Blues loose again.

Good luck for the rest of the year.

that's a fair call. I am one of those that hasn't rated him, but if he sticks to the basics and let's the other more skilled players do the play making then I'll be happy

Dodd was around the top of our progessive B&F voting for a lot of 2006 & 2007 playing exactly the kind of hard nosed no frills man on man defensive footy he seems to have settled back in to. I think he's a bit of a Forrest Gump, give him something simple to do and he'll do it over and over again really well. Trying to get him to be a playmaker just doesn't work.
We were awful in the first few rounds because Harves was playing with all the roles and structures but we are seeing now players going back into the roles they are really suited too. Perhaps only one move has stuck which is Taz down back but that move is a ripper and thank god Harves has the guts to stick to his guns and keep trying things even when people were calling for his head.
