I was listening to MMM mid way through the last quater when we had the game won. Danny Frawley pointed out how it was a 'master stroke' for MM to put clement on williams. To me it was just plain stupid to ever have anyone bar clement on williams. Williams kicked 5 goals and nearly won the game before MM finally noticed that clement was the right man for the job.

If you put Clement on Williams all day, while he is most likely to beat him you are taking away his damaging disposal and general direction he gives our backline. However I though MM put Clement on Williams at just the right time and never really panicked by moving Presti off him straight away.

In fairness, I don't actually think Presti did a real bad job on him, but Hawthorn just give the ball to him at every opportunity. That pass to him for his first goal was ludicrous, the guy had an easy shot on goal, and passed it to Williams.

I reckon I could've kicked 5 today with the amount of opportunities he had. Presti actually beat him one on one many times.

Clement's shutting down of Williams did happen to coincide with our midfield beginning to absolute smash theirs, and hence shut down Williams' supply.

100% correct...we needed Jims half back rebound, him and Wakes provided 80% of that today (Johnno was quiet) We needed him where he was, perfectly coached.

I disagree. Williams is more important to them than clement to us. Williams is their only goal scoring option. Stop him win the game. As it turned out in the last quater Clement killed williams and was still damaging.

I also agree that Presti did ok on williams but he was never the right man for the job.

And Jim was BOG where he played...
Persoanlly think it was the right move. You cant have both and Jim is a better attacker than negater

It was stupid putting presi on williams. Presti isnt as quick as clement. Clement and run faster and he can at least make a contest not likr presti. Clement is simply a better backman than Presti.

Anyone who watched the game would have realised that Presti did a fantastic job on Williams. U can have the best fullback in the league on Williams, but when they are hitting u lace out on the chest, and you have a fullforward who doesnt miss, 5 goals isnt such a bad result.

Willams may have kicked 5, but hawthorn only kicked 12. So im more than happy to concede Williams five, and have clement create off the HBF for us. The last quarter switch i think was more precautionary than anything. Preti in sensational form this week and im looking forward to him playing on dud-ttens this week.

That Frawley is on a different wavelength to your coach is the best sign you can have that Mick is your man. Eddie would be drawing up the new contract and I couldnt understand any Pie supporter wanting to get rid of Mick.

Its when Frawley makes a coaching suggestion and your coach does something similar that it is time to worry.

Like some one said. I don't think Presti did that bad. If the ball comes to you as much as it did to Williams you would hope he bloody kicks 5 goals.

yeah agreed. we needed clement to be able to rebound freely and drift of his openent throughout the game and MM made the move at the precise time to do so IMO.

Presti's a champ but he's the last person I'd put on Williams who gets all his goals on the lead. Even if we did not want Clement on him surely someone could have kept with him better than Perri-como.

Presti was on a hiding to nothing....he lacks pace and is playing on the opposition's best and only forward, with the forward 50 clear and an acre to lead into, williams was their only option, and presti was always going to lose out on the lead

initially i was with BP's thinking, but it makes sense that you dont have your best rebounding defender playing from the defensive goalsquare, we would have missed his ability to find and rebound the ball, although Wakelin did a superb job as well

the move was definitely made at the right time
