We had the number 1 pick last year. The polls on here were in favor of getting him, though from memory they were about 2-1 for and against compared to most in favor now. Most of the arguments have been pretty much the same now as they were then, although since Richmond officially became interested, the levels of excitement have gone a bit overboard.

Personally I don't think he will have as big an impact as some on here think after a year out of the game and without the same 'training supplements'. He'll still be a good player if anyone drafts him, but he won't be winning any brownlow medals like some seem to expect.

I always hated him because of his pretty boy looks. But I always begrudgingly acknowledged that he could play.

I thought that he was a fool for getting involved in drugs. I also believe that the Weagles were negligent in turning a blind eye to all the silly things that happened in the years leading up to this saga.

If he can redeem himself both on and off the field (i'd like a public statement by him saying that drugs are bad), then what could anyone complain about? If he doesn't get drafted he basically becomes another pariah like Gray Ablett Senior.

Because I sense some dramatic pendulum-swinging from parties who now have a stake in Cousins' redemption.

What I prefer is irrelevant, because my position on Cousins hasn't changed.

I remain broadly supportive of him, while disappointed in the way his time at WC ended. Throughout, I have had no time for the sermonising, or the way his drug use has been peddled as a moral issue. It has been OTT throughout.

But a lot of other people, whose own hopes now intersect with Cousins', seem to also have had a timely change of heart. Fancy that.

As an example, look at the ooey-gooey OP in this thread. Suddenly, the big redemption fantasy has traction among Richmond fans. I wonder why.
