Was it wrong to get rid of Troy Simmonds and keep Justin Longmuir instead. Simmonds pretty much wanted to stay but was offered a garbage contract. If you offered Simmonds J-Los contract and got rid of him instead the team would a hell of alot better for it. Strange because the club would of been aware of J-Los chronic knee problems at that time aswell

Not at all, Simmonds wanted a 5 year contract the club offered 4. You don't give that sort of contract length to a player like Simmonds at that point in his career.

Was a great move by Freo letting him go and it got Black to the club :thumbsu:

I don't think that's quite accurate. Longmuir injured his knee in Round 1, 2006, which was after Simmonds had been traded. And after watching Simmonds last night, I think it's safe to say that Richmond can keep him. Of course he is worth more than Longmuir at the moment, but I think people are writing him off a tad too early. It's bad signs, no doubt, but to say that the club has erred in this department is false. I will concede that offering him a four year contract was possibly unwise. Three years is fair for all but the most valuable of players. (Read: Pavlich)

If ya traded J-Lo you could of got Black and some more I think. Simmonds was worth a 4 year contract I think. Was very reliable player for you lot and I think you missed him more then you realise when he did leave

How is 1.2 mil over 4 years a garbage contract??

Once again embers you prove you talk predominantly via your anal orifice.

If we had have traded Justin, we wouldn't have won that game against the Saints...

Simmonds was a good-average ruckman (still is) behind JLo and Sandi, and a very average forward. 4 years to stay with the club that gave his his opportunity to make it, or 5 years to leave. He made the choice, not the club. The club tried to keep him - he walked. We were lucky to get Black for him in hindsight. Would prefer JLo at his best (even at his almost best), than Simmonds. JLo will have a different role when Warnock is ready, and he will show himself to be worthy of his contract.

J Lo's injury changes everything. He first hurt his knee at a community camp game about 3-4 years ago. Thats when things started going bad. Otherwise who knows. Did the eagles make a mistake holding onto Gardner too long? Absolutely!

Simmonds wasnt/ isn't worth a 5 year deal and you just have to look at the deal Richmond offered Gaspar (which destroyed their salary cap for years) that matching Richmond wasn't a good idea.

He probably was worth four, pity the greedy bugger then changed his mind and decided he wanted five. Five would have been stupid. Pretty soft troll effort, even for you.
