Rather than Clinton Jones, would the selection committee been better served by taking a strong body to play against the Swans ?

Voss and Thompson both played for Casey, and I would have thought they'd both have been a better option.

I've not seen any Casey games this year, so I'll be happy to stand corrected if others can let me know why Jones was picked.

Yep SOTD, I'd have taken Vossy into the Swan's game because we needed the win so bad. Jones needs to take a massive leap to get to the point where he's at an AFL standard.

I think RL is playing guys with a focus on future playing lists. I get the impression RL doesn't have Thomo or Vossy featuring in a future Saints team.

With CJ, I guess at least now there's no mystery around CJ's current footy level. It sometimes seems that guys are carried forward on possible potential. Whereas if they get thrown into deep water, that can sort've eliminate any of the hysteria some players have build around them when they're not playing.

You shouldn't need hindsight to realise this. It was bloody obvious that he would be a liabillity going into the game.

I would definitely have had Thommo in for Jones. If ever you needed a hard bodied midfielder in the centre of the ground against an opposition with the likes of Kirk, Bolton, etc it was the other night. The game was always going to be a low scoring affair full of stoppages.

Even if the swans players were anorexic, Jones should NOT have been selected. I haven't seen anything this year from him suggesting he should be in our starting 22. He was given a go against the western bulldogs, and judging on that performance, he should of been dropped (In a must win game)

He might be a handy player later on, however, far from it, at this stage.

For the sake of this thread I will repeat myself again! Voss should have been in the side against the swans, which i said before the match. It was obvious, must have been if I knew it.

I think perhaps Fiora should go (or Briss). I know he has speed but, in my opinion, not much help when it counts.

It is obvious RL is looking to the future, and if that costs us this years finals, is that worth it? Do not think we will go far if we make it, so maybe it is the correct decision.

The worst thing to do would be to move him on in the next two years.
