Although an older story, we all know the Aussie VC who had an argument with a close mate and now has "severed ties" with him and moved on. Has the reason surfaced and become common knowledge? I recently found out over a few beers and the others had heard it before so delete if im very outdated.

For those that know the story can it be posted here or is its nature against the law to discuss? I don't know all these internet rules!

Cheers in advance!

not thinking of Clarke/Katich after the SCG?

The team doesnt seem completely united at the moment, as opposed to the years under Taylor and Waugh.

i heard the reason for it, but it seems like really tabloid gossip. But involves affairs of the heart , whether this is true i am not too sure. It blew up in Darwin and that was the straw that broke the camels back "the gone fishin" reason was just a curveball.

Teams always look united when they're winning.

We now know of course that Steve Waugh and Taylor ended up having a fairly testy relationship, while during Steve Waugh's reign, he and Warney were hardly pals and Warney and Gilly had - how shall we put it - a professional relationship.

am i the only that thinks Symonds may not be the top bloke the media tries to portray him as?

Quite possible

It shouldnt be all that suprising that not everyone gets on however. I've been playing team sport for years and you arent best mates with everyone in your side/club, there is always a few who piss you off

Can someone spell out the juicy details for people like me who always miss out on hearing them?

If we are talking about the same issue - it came from horses mouth over a few beers

Exactly.

Not everyone can be buddy buddy's with everyone. There's plenty of differing personalities and as a result they clash.

Yeah, can't have everyone being best friends. As long as it's not spiteful and doesn't affect on-feild performances it's all good.

Katich and Clarke was a step too far though.

Glad I didn't have to type it!

Can someone explain the Katich - Clarke incident that went 'too far'?

Wasn't it after the Sydney test match where we beat India with Clarke taking 3 wickets on the last day, and Clarke wanting them to hurry up with the team song and Katich grabbing him by the throat or something?

The traditional team song can be sung at any time during the night, it is up to the person who has been given the duty to lead the song to pick the right time. As i understand it, the players had quite a few drinks in the rooms and it was getting reasonably late in the evening. The song still had not been sung. Clarke had a family dinner booked at a restaurant and I think suggested to the team song leader to get on with it. Katich took exception to this and told Clarke in no uncertain terms with a bit of a scuffle that he knew the history and should accept it.
I kind of think it is immature of Katich really, Clarke waited and needed to go. Cooler, smarter less drunk heads could have used a bit more sense at this time.
I understand the problem has been cleared up and Kat and Pup are good and okay now.

That was the story I heard, when in Darwin Roy had a few beers and started slagging off Lara and saying how he and Pup used to rotate strike so to speak. Pup got upset and decided it was off-limits because by that time he and lara were a solid couple.
The rest is history as you all know.
Symonds has threatened to spill the beans when his career is finished, stay tuned.

Heh, that's funny. No one comes out the winner then. Everyone knows Bingle's a tandem bike who lets everyone get a ride, so Clarke gets pissed off just coz he used to let his ex-best mate bang his to-be wife then decided Roy should shut up about it. No double standards or anything like that.

I am sure you all saw the article in the paper last week that featured bigfooty. I think we will play it on the safe side with rumours and whatnot.

Even in the very clever fashion you used Carl Spackler.
