Holy shit that’s a bad way to start the season … again. Even if some of the “test” category get cleared to play. I mean Ryley Sanders was a revelation and an unexpected cause for hope until he copped a footy in the head. Now he’s “1-2 weeks “ FFS.
Not ideal when the opening game is against the reigning premier.

1-2 in the default for a concussion as it covers the 12 day protocol, he is fine.

Concussions should never be listed as 1 week; they are always listed as 1-2 in case some players take a little longer to recover.

It's not fantastic but far from the worst, particularly depending on where those 'tests' land - need I remind you of the same time last year?

Yes I get that and I respect the concussion protocols .. But Samders is just a part of it and only one example.

Normally I’d expect us to start the season with close to a clean sheet. Not with a good handful of our best 23 in doubt.

The changes in pre seasons over the last 15 years makes it highly unlikely any team would be coming in to the start of the season with close to a clean sheet

The AFL are actually bringing back players too soon. They should be out for minimum 14 days for the neurometabolic crisis that occurs in the brain to resolve. A subsequent concussion in the timeframe greatly prolongs recovery.

What’s going on with Garcia?

Very strange that a hamstring is still TBA after all these weeks.

It was announced 12-14 weeks at the time, was a tendon I believe that needed surgery

“In the VFL game last week, Lachy received a heavy blow to his knee causing a significant corkie to the muscle that sits just above his knee.

Isn't syndesmosis high ankle?

Injury List - Round 2

Yes syndesmosis is an ankle injury

That's what I though. How does a cork above the knee result in syndesmosis?
I may have missed some news along the way but my understanding was Carmichael incurred the syndesmosis injury a month or more ago and was just returning after his recovery from that. So the latest injury - a cork or whatever - would be something different.

If they are still listing his injury as syndesmosis it may just be a disconnect between the medical and the PR teams, not a syndesmosis as a consequence of a knock above the knee. Besides a new syndesmosis injury would be unlikely to be a "test" straight away. They usually require weeks.

That's just my take in response to your question. If anyone has any better info I'm happy to defer to that.

That makes sense. Cheers!

Gabelich reporting Libba did a hammy in the third qtr and played out the rest of the game. He’s expected to miss at least the next two games.
