My choices for ins and outs this week would be the following:
In: C.Scott, M.Kennedy, C.Johnson, T.Notting
Out: C.Bolton, D.Bradshaw, B.Scott, D.Headland
Dropping Bradshaw is a pretty big call, however, I think we really need M.Kennedy back in the side - and I can't see us playing both of them (unless we drop another tall - B.McDonald perhaps?? I doubt it though, Keating isn't fit enough to hold an entire game).
Although Bradshaw has the capacity to kick 6 or more goals in a game, I think the most important thing we need to think about first, is shutting down the Roos talls.
Leppitsch and Michael were the only genuine talls last week.
Guys like Pike and White do a good job at shutting down the flankers and forward pockets. However, they are really only midsized players - it's putting a lot of pressure on them to take someone like McKernan, or Rocca.
We have Richmond the next week, and the scenario will be the same with Richardson, Holland, Ottens and Gale.
For these reasons, I believe Kennedy's presence is more important than that of Bradshaw at this time.
Similarly, I'd include T.Notting, to play deep in the forward line, to provide another marking option. Notting's long kicking and pace also make him pretty versatile for other positions too.
C.Scott is an obvious inclusion - don't need to justify him, do I?
C.Johnson should also be in the side. He is certainly creative with the ball from the back half - and I think his defensive skills overall are pretty good. The drive he creates from the back half was a key factor in our good form in the last half of last year.
The fact that he finished well in last year's B&F is almost a reason enough alone, to justify his inclusion (why keep a good player out, if he's ready to go?).
Any thoughts?
