I am a Captains Club Member but maybe only a certain random amount of CC Members received the email.

NOT HAPPY JAN!
Red carding Malthouse for going off topic at last year's event was always going to come back to bite you!

+1 Have never heard of it.

It was probably the captains club premium members only, I remember reading they get some of these non match day access. I'm pretty sure I'm captains club reserved.

It was a Premium Members only event, around 150 attended.

Any interesting insights you can share with us? Would be keen to hear some of the player comments too.
No players there, but SOS looked like he could pull the jumper on again. I'd forgotten how tall he is.

The Q&A was the sort of stuff you've heard before. How are Walker (round 1) & Kreuzer (round 5). How do we fix Tom Bell's deficiencies. The group's introverted nature, and where do we draw the line with extroverted bad-boys. Several others.

Intelligent questions - especially by the standards of footy tragics, but nothing that hasn't been asked before. It's always good to hear the official view in a non-adversarial environment.

Most important area that members should have input into is membership...

So...I'm hoping someone stood up and asked it plain as day;

Are you aware that we - the Members - think you - the Membership Department - are shit, and consequently, what do you plan to do about it?

So anything interesting to come out of the night?
The interesting part was that it was happening at all. Most who went would have felt it was worthwhile, but there were no revelations. I should have taken notes, but I assumed there'd be other BF tragics there to remember stuff.

Club can't win. Do something good for members who put a fair whack of their hard earned into the joint, get knocked for being elitist. Why shouldn't these folk be rewarded? Go to a game, pay more money for your seat, get better seating. It's kind of how life works.

Sounds like a decent night, with good attendance & some valid points being raised. Don't see how that can't be a positive. Thanks for posting, AD. Hope you had a nice evening & enjoyed your fellow 'elites' company.

This is the reason footy is ****ed. That's why all major events are not the same. Suddenly those with money figure out what the poor people have enjoyed for decades and it all becomes a marketing excercise to attract the big bucks.

So rich people can't/don't enjoy sport as much the working class? They don't have to put a dime into the club if that rings true so why would they?

I think I see where you're coming from but this definitely isn't always the case. I'd wager that a fair percentage of those who attended aren't all cashed up, rather they just really love the club. Good luck to them I say.

I think that some of the angst is that the email did not get to those who would have been eligible to attend.
But I think that this sort of event is great for members and could be tailored / tiered to each level.
I would put the Board in front of the members as well not just at the AGM.
Lets hear from the admin teams what they are doing to make our club strong.

............and don't forget the YCP..............omfg, now the idiot offspring of club money men get to **** things up for the next generation.

I didn't see anyone else there with top-hats and monicles. I say standards are slipping.

Fortunately, I had my man servant fiercely berate the shabby proles if they strayed too close to my Chesterfield.
