Thought i would start a thread with a wide range of interesting comments,stats,trivia and so on.

I was watching today tonight and found out that 1 in 8 women get breast cancer and i didnt realise the number was so high.

I think you'll find nearly all the ones in the OP are myths. The house fire one is the only one that seems like it might be true.
Some are slightly off (the percentage on the reoffending prisoners is far too high), others are just plain wrong (the depression stats are backwards).

In contribution though, over 85% of all statistics quoted on the internet are made up.
