PORT Adelaide midfielder Josh Carr has been told he could take a back seat this season as the club looks to promote its youth.

Carr, 29, struggled with form and fitness in his return to Alberton last year, managing just 12 games.

I thought we traded for Keps, my bad.

The PSD is harsh but theres a difference between deliberately screwing your club over and a contract fallout or trade not happening.

But in another sense, a trade was still attempted. Josh Carr prevented us having any chance at doing so.

I thought we traded for Keps, my bad.

We offered to, but Essendon were too stubborn to take it. They wanted more than the pick we offered, we told them to take it or leave it, they left it and then delisted him instead. We kept the pick we offered them and used it on Mark Johnson, then drafted Kep with the next pick IIRC.

Didn't like the fact we got nothing in a trade for him.

But I wont be dogging Carr, he put his body out there for us every week. He gave us 3 or 4 years of solid service where he gave it his all. He didn't look the same in his last year but I can understand that if his missus was unhappy plus his brother fell out of favour. He is a competitor and got the most out of his talents IMO. Problem with a guy like that is his body will fall apart quick as it seems to have.

Best of luck to him for life outside of footy and playing for his SANFL team this year.
