My desire to visit the US has diminished significantly in the past few months. I cannot think why...

The USA can get ****ed. That statement is probably enough to get me barred from Trump's America.

Vladimir Putin has restarted the cold war. As an ex KGB operative it was always his intention to make Russia great again. There can be no doubt that Putin wants to reconstitute the Soviet Union. The problem for the West is that Donald Trump does not see this.

The Baltic states have a good percentage of russian speakers. You’d have to guess that the first excuse to invade these countries would be to protect the russian speakers. A number of other “reasons” would follow.
Interesting to see how much support the Baltics would get from Hungary and Slovakia who are friendly with russia.

Yep, Europe will get advance warning of likely action when Russia ramps up rhetoric about oppressed Russian minorities. Some false stories of not allowed to even speak Russian, Pensioners abused, women harassed. All whilst the 'evil Europeans' turn a blind eye or actively encourage. As they won't act, they have no choice but to send troops to protect them.

Russia then relying on too many in Europe not immediately attacking them, if they stick to heavily Russian majority areas. If they don't it'll then be 'well just a village or a few km's further' salami slice by salami slice.

The Baltics and Poland know this, which is why they are sending so much to Ukraine. Still too many further West who still hold out hope by the time Russia could attack there'll be a Democrat (or an increasingly rare old school Republican) President who Putin knows would likely enforce NATO Article 5, so they can avoid the hard decisions, of what benefits people like will have to be cut or what taxes to raise, to properly fund defense.

Yes, Trump's approval ratings are the worst of any President at this point in their term, since Nixon, but there's now a large percentage of baked in lunatics in the US voting public. Sure there's still a reasonable number of old school Republicans who'd rather have voted for anyone but Trump (except a Democrat), but they are a minority of Republican voters. Odds are more on a MAGA (even if MAGA-Lite) candidate for them in 2028 and that's far enough away they might get in (especially if Trump dies in office and his successor can blame him for all the bad, but still take his base). The Europeans are STILL talk, talk, talk, as if they can talk their way to Russia's defeat.

The great peacemaker fails again...

It ain't all over until it is all over Donald.

Yeah REH she's jumping from Tsarist Imperial Russia who were undoubtedly expansionist like every other power/empire at the time and before, to the Soviet Union who had idealogical expansionist intentions as well as just fighting and winning the greatest and deadliest war that has ever been. She's using this as her argument as to why the Russians will definitely go down this path again? Are the Spanish and Portugese going to reclaim South America? They did it before. The French parts of Africa? (They actually still do but thats another story). The Poms reclaim Ireland or India? Its a different world. Stating that Russia is gonna start simply rolling through Eastern Europe again is fanciful.

Putin is an expansionist - the other countries have had expansionism beaten out of them by wars and they know they can't win them, they don't the resources and don't have enough nukes. Nukes are the only thing stopping NATO invading Russia.

Putin wont take back all of eastern Europe but he will continue to look at taking back strategic areas, if he ever gets out of the quagmire of Ukraine.

Look at the video I posted at #6,947 on the previous page, between 1.20 and about 2.30. He has already taken back several areas. Both videos are spliced from the same 90 minute lecture. Plus he keeps interfering with elections and backing Russian friendly politicians in old soviet republics that are now independent of Russia.

I thought the hostilities and dislike between India and China was driven by centuries of border disputes and distrust about getting screwed on trading deal over those centuries.

But its a lot younger than that. The first 15 years after Mao took control of the PRC, India backed China at the UN, recognised the mainland over Taiwan as the real China, signed a friendship treaty with China, then signed another one over Tibet with them recognizing China's claim, then in the early 60's China invades India and steals their territory and don't get any help from Russia as it has the Cuban Missile crisis to deal with.

Nehru was a Fabian Socialist, started the Non Aligned Movement, says India should be friendly with Soviets, China and USA. But they never got close to USA as the US still had segregation of black Americans in the south and the Indians didn't see that as any better than British colonialism.

Yanks ditch India for Pakistan and are hostile to India in the war of 1971 between India and East Pakistan - soon to become Bangladesh and Nixon trying to court China calls Nehru's daughter and Indian PM Indira Gandhi a Bitch and Kissinger calls her a Witch.

50 years later you now have USA courting India (and is Oz and Japan) as a counterbalance to China and Russia courting India so it isn't so dependent on China, who they know are going to get payback for giving up over 1 million square kms of territory to Russia in the Treaty of Aigun in 1858 (600k sq km) and in the Convention of Peking in 1860 (400k) of Upper Manchuria.

This is why Russia despite losing so many soldiers either dead or wounded in Ukraine, still has a heavily fortified eastern Russian flank in Siberia. They know that it is asking for trouble to leave that area unprotected/ poorly protected.

Then there is Lake Baikal in Russia, which contains approx 20% of the world's fresh water which isn't far from the border of the old areas China gave up as a result of the Opium Wars in 1858 and 1860. China's north is parched and they are building 3 grand scheme aqueducts - the South to North Water Transfer Project all 3 over 1,000 kms long. My understanding is that one of the 3 aqueducts is complete and the other 2 partially complete but operational for part of the route and transferring a shit load of water. The gradient of these above ground concrete aqueducts is something like 1:25,000 so that its gravity fed and doesn't need pumping stations.

Putin's claim re Ukraine - that Russia is allowed to take back lands historically Russian owned, doesn't just allow China to follow that principle to take back Taiwan, which the west is worried about, but under that principle it allows China to take back lands it historically owned before the 1858/60 treaties, which the west ignores. Putin is aware of this and its just one of the reasons why he is so friendly with Xi, along with needing China's resources at the moment for the Ukraine war and to get around sanctions.

Sarah Paine asks an important question, that might have changed the world as we know it today. What would have happened over the last 60 years if India and China remained close allies and co-operated closely??

Good news but we all know that Putin will reject any deal. Putin does not want peace, he wants Ukraine.

How anyone can look at Trump and think yep, that's my guy is unfathomable. Regardless of if you're left or right

Yep, a Trump critic gets murdered and all he gets is bad mouth from the President. A Trump supporter like Charlie Kirk gets murdered and he gets a Congressional Gold Medal.

How the US population puts up with the double standards of the man is beyond belief. As most of us know the US system of government is broken. They elect one of the mega rich who thinks he can say and do what he likes- and the tragedy is he can.

He won't outright reject it. It'll be another "Yes, but first here's a list of things we know Ukraine won't accept that need to be done. So it's their fault we don't have peace".

Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against the BBC over its editing of a speech he made to supporters in Washington before they stormed the US Capitol in 2021, requesting up to $10bn in damages.

It was filed at the US district court for the southern district of Florida – even though BBC iPlayer, the main streaming platform that carries Panorama, and BBC One, the main TV channel that broadcasts it, are not available in the US. The episode never aired in the US.

honk honk. hurry up and die

honk honk. hurry up and die

The fact is the BBC Panorama program was never officially released for viewing in the US including Florida where the case has been filed and the only way any Florida voter would have seen it is through the BritBox streaming service. Trump's action also claims that the Canadian Blue Ant distribution company circulated the Panorama program in the US a claim which Blue Ant denies.

It is not that Trump didn't say what the BBC alleged he said but that the BBC spliced together statements that he said on Jan 6th and made it sound and look like a call for violence and insurrection. At one stage Trump's legal team were attempting to argue that the BBC used AI to fabricate the words that Trump is alleged to have said but that has since been scientifically refuted.

Donald has tried this before with mixed success. So far Trump won two cases from the seven he has brought against media companies with two of them ongoing. The difference this time is the media company being sued is not a US concern and is funded by the British taxpayer. If Trump wins it will cost the British taxpayer 7.4 billion pounds so there are calls for Kier Starmer to talk with Trump.

Tramp has literally installed plaques below the official portraits of Obama and Biden that basically say "these guys were smelly bad doo-doo heads! President Trump is great and everyone loves him all the time"

Its kinda comical how deranged he is

I love how cheap they look compared to the portraits.

The great peacemaker has just announced plans to construct the world's biggest battleships. They are to be called Trump Class vessels. Is their no limit to this man's ego?

Under trump the US Department of Defense has become the Department of War, he is overseeing the construction of the largest warships ever built, he authorises bombing raids in Iran and Syria and threatens war with Venezuela and some wanted to give this guy the Nobel peace prize?

Rump could announce he's getting rid of USD $ and instituting Trump bucks and I don't think anyone would be shocked.

So. Basically.

Trump and Epstein rape a girl together.

Girl is traumatized and confesses to a friend(?).

Friend advises she call the police. Girl is afraid they will kill her, but she still does so.

Police soon find her dead in Oklahoma, her head blown apart, and said “in no way was it a suicide”.

Coroner disagrees and declares it a suicide because Girl “had gotten cocaine from a Mexican cartel”.

Coroner used a drug-related, cartel-related arbitrary reason to declare death as a suicide, when the victim had tried to report Donald J. Trump as a rapist to the police.

Who do we know always goes off about those invading drug cartels?

Trump is the scum of the earth, a rapist, a treasonous traitor, and finally, a murderer in collaboration with Ghislaine Maxwell whom he has given relief to in terms of imprisonment location and security. And he is likely to have had Jeffrey Epstein killed (if not smuggled him away and out of prison and to “exile”) to prevent threats to his presidential campaigns to obtain true power in the free world.

At this point, I just don’t know what to do or say. Trump has gone to the deep end of illegality, of treason, and everything else. Garland and Biden had golden opportunities to literally cut off the head of the whole “Conservative” movement, and they failed us because they let themselves be afraid of another January 6th or an imaginary Civil War. The Insurrection was just that. They arrested every treasonous soul they identified, and that was that. They just had to punish and imprison the one who incited it.

Instead, Garland and Biden has put the world at risk, empowered Russia and Israel, all to appease only a third of Americans before an Election that has indicated fraudulent elements.

We’re so screwed.
