I have met a few chicks via the web though only outside of Australia; all of them were hot.

Most chicks that contacted me in Oz were scraggers, and the ones I contacted were 'too good for me'. The one hot chick that I was chatting with was a bit gun-shy so we never met in person.

Internet dating isn't bad but I'm just not interested in paying to contact people, and the free sites Aussies use are full of scraggers... which ain't all bad cause I'm not single.

Separated from my wife and didnt know anyone in Perth, hit the chat rooms and met a lot of great people , some still friends after 6 years , some have disappeared back into the ether.

I also met a lot of women , but did it mainly at bbqs and coffee meets organised so a face to face meet happens before a decision made on further dating.

Met my gf online and still with her after 4 years. I would recommend it for anyone

Personally i wouldn't do it, i've made alot of friends through the net through just having similar tastes in music and whatnot but in the end i don't actually trust any of them.

Also, people say things on the internet that they would never say irl. So you are believing they are someone they really they aren't.

I met my wife through RSVP.

After I had emailed her, I gave me her phone number, she called and we went on our first date the next day. We did not spend any time 'chatting' on the net or anything like that.

The way I viewed using that site was it was like going out on blind dates, however you have a bit of a screening test first. I know other people who have succesfully dated through that site. It is no guarantee but I dont see how it is too much different than meeting people at bars etc.

It also depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a "long term relationship" you should use a respectable site. However if you are looking for a "one nighter" then I don't thing you will have as much luck, particularly on the quality side of things.
