There has arisen talk of Carlton selling home games interstate.

Personally the idea makes me shudder. I cant bear the thought of our club having to prostitute itself out to crummy stadiums. Sure, we need the money, but wont this just take us down the same path as north melbourne? Many are now at the belief that seeing kangas are selling themselves interstate that they can just move out there altogether.

Thats not a road id like to go down with our club, which was once the pride of the AFL.

But also in an on-field perspective, Carlton has NO home ground advantage at all. That was long gone with the closure of princess park. I think further breaking up our home games to other venues will only hurt us more. We need to stay in melbourne as much as possible so we start to get our practice up at colonial stadium, and can slowly win our majority of games there. For a team that doesnt travel well, i dont see us winning many games interstate even if they are considered our "home games".

what does everyone think? id like to ramain a 100% victorian club.

unlikely carlton will sell any home games

if it does happen, it would more than likely be that we play a "home" game interstate, but we get an extra game in Melbourne as part of the deal

this year we play 5 games interstate v interstate opposition
if we sold a game it would mean 4 games interstate v interstate opposition and 1 game interstate v anyone cause its at a neutral venue (qld, act, nsw etc)

Crummy Stadiums.....you obviously havent seen Aurora Stadium in Tassie - one of the best playing surfaces in Australia according to some AFL players and management.

And yes they now have a louder siren.

I dont have a problem with our club playing interstate matches for the short term....from all reports we could make some good money from this venture and if thats the case surely some short term interstate games to get us back in the black quicker is a positive.

The Tasmanian Government underwrites all games in the state so clubs playing here can not lose.

Didn't Graham Smorgon mention earlier in the year that they hadn't found a financially worth while "home away from home."
