Exactly but this is lost on those fools.

We kick straighter and suddenly we've kicked 160 plus and the whole comp shits themselves.

Carltoon won't kick that straight again all year either.

Sadly we might kick that poorly though.

Bad kicking is bad football BUT it is something that changes quickly week to week while other factors (i.e inside 50s) don't.

Our last 6 competitive games Shots for-Shots against (margin)
36-20 (+26)
28-20 (+48)
28-22 (+36)
26-15 (+51)
27-21 (+41)
30-16 (+104)

Put simply, we were every bit as dominant in terms of generating shots over Carlton as we were over Freo.
 
Yup. I wouldn’t even go as far to say with the umps against us (oppp can pick at that and say that’s football it happens) - what’s less common is for so many 50m penalties to result in easy shots at goal that would’ve otherwise been long range or multi-possession chains to goal opportunities.
Carlton kicked straight but also had a number of low percentage chances converted into high percentage chances from all the fifties.

first thing i said after the game (to myself coz noone else was awake) was that we didnt convert shots and had we, no way Carlton gets the score they did. They had scoreboard pressure all game, but we could have blown em out of the water by about 10 goals. media and nuff nuffs will be like "Carlton are gonna be good this year, coz Richmond only won by 4 goals" students of the game realise that tigs smashed them everywhere except the scoreboard.

Yup...straight threw da high diddle diddle...they were all kicking at 100%...We are their GF!
 
Lot of poor % shots, out wide in the pockets. That's good defence from them to not give us the corridor to shoot from. Some poor choices also from our blokes to lead wide.
And a bunch of panicky, quick shots where we had a bit of time. That is something that will improve with time.

Thought we got exposed a bit with Boltons cunning tactics starting with 3 or 4 up front and swarming forward from the back half splitting up and isolating our Roman Centurion defense. Kreuzer not playing out the game also helped.

Next week is a better barometer for us.
