Unlucky for Playfair. I was really looking forward to see him play for us earlier in the season.

Does anyone know if we are playing an intre-club this year?
And if we did play one who stared?
Btw playfair's hammy is shot....

I heard they had planned a scratchy early morn on Friday but don't know what happened? Wouldn't be surprised if called of due to rain... no use risking playin on a substandard surface.

The very interesting thing about Playfair is from the comments Roosey seems to be thinking he is a best 22 inclusion!!

I have a hunch we will see BBBH play a lot closer to goal this year !

Pity about Playfair, how long is he out for? Barry Hall will have to play closer to go, if Playfair is out for a long period of time.

They had an intra-club last Friday. Here's someone's report after watching the first quarter...

The match went ahead - started about 9.30am. They did a big warm-up. Magic, Bazza, Tige, Jolly, Leaping Leo, Crouchy didn't play but did separate training - whilst being rested they still put in a very hard session.

I only stayed for first quarter as work beckoned. Goodes looks to have really beefed up this year - he is streets ahead of rest of side with his vision & positioning. Strange seeing him in no 48 (I guess no 37 is too small for him) & Kirky in no 3. Spida did some handy tap work but crumbers were poor in reading his taps.

Bazza still dropping easy marks including chest marks. He was getting pretty frustrated with himself & quite understandable. He just isn't watching the footy - simple as that. He could do with having the super slo-mo on him to see what is going wrong.

Rain stopped around 7.30am - thank you cricket gods - and conditions were reasonable. No official umpires for the game. Similar brand of tempo style footy being played again in 2008 if first quarter was any guide.

Wite team kicked a few goals & dominated play. Only goal to red team in first quarter was by opponent of Ben Matthews - took a one hander that BM should have spoilt.

Prediction: a long hard season if Goodesy gets injured.

Thanks to Rafters from RWO.

so, was this game in sydney or melbourne?

and yes, cheers for the report...decidedly underwhelming but ... well, footy's back

Change of numbers is weird.

From an article on the Swans homepage it said McVeigh had a good game, ND singled him out..what d'you guys think?
Better year for him?

brief on wires today suggests everitt has had problems with post-surgery and, well, very doubtful for round 1 of competition proper, and at his age, i'd reckon there's a real worry about him early in the season

How many games are we expecting from Veszpremi this year lads ??
I love the way he goes about his footy, he just kows where to go at almost every moment and goes in like a steam train in every contest...:thumbsu:

ha! under paul roos, if he gets ANY senior game time he's blessed
a lot of us would love to think he'd get a few games, but he'd need to do something spectacular in the pre-season to be any chance

but remember what paul said,he's only a kid and probably won't play 1sts this year, why do other teams play kids?

Zero.

Maybe 2009 though. I guess it'll just depend on what direction we are heading at that stage though. I think the premiership window will be well and truly shut, so hopefully some of the youngsters will get a go.

we just gotta hope they do so well in the preseason roos has no choice but to play at least a few of them
the injury to everitt has got to have thrown a spanner in the works
there must be a big cloud on him, and if the likes of currie or white can show up, maybe that's where we'll see some youth early in the season proper
but vez, DOKand the egg ... let's just see something of them in the next 4 weeks
