RFC Official - quick idea for you and sorry if there's something like this in place already. I'm an overseas supporter who was a member back in Melbourne but think the renewal form must have gone to my old address, so fell off the radar when I moved. Apologies and I will renew when I get around to it.
Anyway, one of the things about being an overseas supporter is that it is a pain to get access to any live coverage and/or replays of the game. The website that the AFL directs you to automatically instead of bigpond - liveafl.tv doesn't show all the games live and takes a while to upload others. There's other websites out there but they're all dodgy with pop up ads, constantly asking for credit card details etc etc.
I'm lucky now that my cable provider happens to be covered by ESPN3.com so I get free access to that for the Richmond games that they show. They show about 3 AFL games a week with good quality and fortunately the Tigers are on for the first four weekends. After that though, I'm not sure how I'll go.
I'd be happy to cough up a "Overseas membership" fee of say, ~$100 so I could get live, streaming coverage of games and replays online instantly. If I paid straight to the club like my normal membership, I'd be happily supporting the club but also know that I'm not getting ripped off by some dodgy website.
I'm not sure if the clubs have any sort of TV rights like that but it would certainly be a way to boost membership by grabbing all these overseas supporters who struggle to get coverage. When you live overseas, you only really want to see your team play, so club based TV arrangements might be the way to go.
Anyway, I like the app and might jump on and get it. I just would love a more organised way to watch footy on the internet.
