if not how do i activate it?

Mine only showed the battery percentage after jailbreaking it. After stupidly upgrading it to 3.1.3 and ending the jailbreak the percentage continued to show. Which means it's just a setting in one of the files and it beats me why Apple can't do this for all 3G phones.

I don't blame Apple for not opening the multitasking fuction for the 3G. Not sure if anyone else has noticed this but after the upgrade it seems to be a little laggy 'Waking' and 'Unlocking' the phone. Only VERY slight but certainly different to how my phone was yesterday. Like the new animations though

Folders work a treat. I know only have 3 pages not even full and could go lower if needed. Anyway, bring on the iPhone 4.

Well for those of you (like me) who have a 3G iPhone and want to take advantage of all the feature of iOS4, redsnow have come to the rescue.

This gives you the option to choose which options you would like to open up on the iOS4. ie. Background, Multitasking and Battery Meter.

You can choose not to install Cydia which is nice and just have these new features working. I have had them running all day and haven't noticed much slowing down from the original software update at all.

If you are keen on trying these out, go for it.

If anyone hasn't noticed, when you double press the Home button you see the icons for the 4 most recently used applications

Swipe left and you get the orientation lock button and some iPod controls. Go into an app and you will see the orientation lock icon in the top right.

Double press Home then swipe right once or more times to see the most recently used applications.

Note that not all apps will support multi-tasking, but you've probably noticed a lot of app updates lately for iOS 4 and iPhone 4.

This looks new. Able now to turn off cellular data (3G/EDGE) locally, thus avoiding data and/or roaming charges. Could be useful if you're at your monthly data allowance. The Phone will still work as expected.

Jailbreaks don't work for newer bootroms, nor if they haven't been activated.

Have to wait for limerain.

Hi guys.

I tried installing OS4 on my 3GS last night.

It got as far as "Updating iPhone Software", then has hung.

I left it for over 5 hours, and nothing moved.

Phone is now frozen with the white Apple logo and the update status bar, even unplugged from the PC.

iTunes doesnt recognise it if I re-plug it back in.

Any suggestions?

Put it in DFU mode then restore it.

Just updated my 3gs to OS4 and it only took 25 minutes.

Am I missing something?

If you had it jailbroke on 3.1.2, I'm pretty sure you can then use pwnagetool or something to jailbreak os4.

My mate found that but didn't know what to do and restored everyone meaning he lost all his apps, song etc.

I've bee having major troubles after updating to iOS4. I can't send MMS anymore, nor can I access 3G internet. Which was a huge problem for me because I got lost yesterday trying to find an address. I went to look on Maps for directions, only to remember that it wouldn't work, making me late for work.

In the process of tying to fix it now, incredibly frustrating.
