I'm getting a tad annoyed with this to be honest.

I have a few friends that have jumped from the iPhone to Android and some of their questions to me have been such basic stuff that makes me think Apple folk are..well STUPID...!!

They ask me basic stuff like how do I change my security to a PIN...how do I make it vibrate a certain way...how do i add an account to the system......

Seriously, it's all there in the settings or at least on Google...

Has Apple stoopidised(sic) them that much??

I'm Thinking of getting or upgrading my phone ( mobile ). I would like to get touch screen stile smart phone but would be using the card i have in my phone now that's 3G. Anyway is the phones SMARTPHONES that have Android in them any better? Much Simpler?
Would appreciate any feed back as I'm a near SENIOR and not that Tech savvy to be honest.
I want to use it fore maybe Facebook and Twitter access.
Thanks

Wouldn't they have had the same questions when they first got their iPhone?

Bit harsh drawing conclusions on a broad group of people based upon a small sample size of your dim witted friends!

It depends on what phone you get. Android is on 100+ devices, there is something for everyone at every price range. Simpler than what?

For general use you could go for a mid-tier range Android phone, something like a Google Nexus or Galaxy S2.

This was good advise mate as my last phone was a Samsung i went with a galaxy ace touch screen job.
And boy in an hour its doing all i was asking of in a Smart.
Facebook, Gmail, easy tunes listing, Photos, mp3 FM radio ,the lot. All for the sum of $260. Not to dam bad as i didn't have a whole lot to spend.
Thanks again.

I work in electronics retail.

I can confirm apple customers are morons. Most of them call Ipads, Ipods and Iphones, Ipods and Ipads, Iphones.

Yet they still buy them, not even knowing what on earth they are.

I'd never even used -owned a PC until 18 months ago. Wouldn't have even known how to turn one on. And only had a very basic mobile phone, very old model. I only have half of year 9 schooling, and that was many many years ago.
A lot of people may be a little like myself and not up to speed with all the modern technology. maybe you should have a little more patience-understanding and relies not all and every costumer is a qualified I T expert and also get a little mixed up. Also sounds as if you should not be in a sales or service industry.

Since identifying products by name requires a qualification in I.T....

Ive recently switched from the iPhone to the HTC velocity.
Its been a mixed bag for me.
I mainly switched to the velocity because of its 4G compatibility, which is great, however, the phones usability is nowhere as good as the iphone.
The battery life is shocking and adding your music library to the phone is a hit and miss affair, and is hard to manage. Unlike iphone and itunes which made it easy.
If the upcoming iPhone is 4G compatible, i will be changing back

I know four people that have HTC's and I also had a wildfire given to me by my company and the verdict is...
They are a load of SHIT!!

I went from a HTC Wildfire to Samsung SII then to an SIII and the differences are stricking.
Samsung's Touchwiz is starting to come into it's own and I think they are doing an amazing job with it though I hope they get grip a little with the bloatware....
The small additions they add are great..as I said they do add bloatware but a lot of it can be removed or ignorned..

don't get an android if you want your phone to act like an iphone because its not going to.

plenty of threads on whirlpool with people complaining that their android phone doesn't do things like their iphone...

Switched from iPhone to a s3 on Sunday and am loving it. Getting a handle of it so I wont ask ******ed questions. I've figured out things on my own.

But at the risk of sounding restarded lol.... I have a question for you seasoned Android users.

I've noticed spam where I assume from an app I have and an add then tries to get me to download things. Which I just refuse. I put AVG just for the time being and only get apps from play. What do you guys use in terms of viruses or spam. Is AVG good enough or do I need to be lead in another direction lol.

Do you mean ads while you are in an application? Many apps do this, and some have paid versions without ads.

Haven't used AVG, to be honest I don't think it is necessary. If your phone is rooted, or you want to go down that avenue, there are apps that block the ads.

you dont need AVG
as long as you look at the permissions of the apps that you're installing and dont side load apps that arent from a reputable source, you should be fine. check reviews for apps. there are some apps that spam your notification area with ads, stay away from them.

Yeah, it's all very perplexing.

The funniest part is that the OP calls the Android users "Apple folk". o_O

Probably because calling them plebs or peasants could come across as rude :p

But it's not unique to Apple users, it just morons in general. The internet has dumbed people down to the point where the movie Idiocricy is becoming a reality, and made them so lazy that they just throw stupid questions at others instead of typing it into a search engine and instantly finding the answer themselves.

Oh..... and antivirus on a phone is pretty pointless, just stick to the market apps and learn to deal with the ads.... they are why there are so many free apps for Android.

Download an app called air push detector - it will detect the apps you have downloaded that send ads to your phone...

I don't mean adds within an app. I mean in the notifications. And for some reason everything I open the default net browser it loads a battery juice page then trys to download it which I stop but it's annoying

It's either a trial up that keeps trying to make you buy it, or you've put something malicious on it. Uninstall apps (starting with the newest ones) until it goes away, or factory reset it and start from scratch.

exactly, this is not for ads within ads... this will detect which apps you have downloaded that is sending you ads via notification bar...
