I use this in my car non stop whilst driving, but I'm really tiring of the poor reception i get.. cutting in and out.. noise in the background..

I use the frequency 107.1 (i think)

I'm sure a lot of guys use these, anyone worked out the best way to do it?

(I'm in Melbourne if that matters as far as other radio stations go)

Change the frequency to something that is not close to a real radio station.
 
Better still, get a different transmitter. What car do you have? Have a look on eBay and one you can plug into an AUX plug.
Some cars you can not do that unfortunately, I still have the Ford factory cd player, doesn't play MP3s and has no AUX plug connection so have the same problem as the OP.
