Irrelevant Finals Statistics

I think it's hard to apply hard science here, but I believe if a hypothesis or theory is to be altered, you are supposed to do it by the bare minimum (ie. if one aspect of relativity were discovered to be slightly out, you'd adjust that part of the theory, not throw it all away).

(Probably somewhat off-topic, but) special relativity's predictions only contradicted Newton by the tiniest of degrees in all available tests at the time, but because it fitted that data so elegantly the physics community was happy to accept the complete conceptual overhaul which it represented.

The Hawks win was only our second finals win without John Worsfold's involvment (the first being 1999 final against the Bulldogs).
*Edit- third. He didn't play in the final against Carlton in 1996 which I was at as a youngster. Does anybody remember if that was the game where 2 young naked lasses ran onto the field?

RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME.... Start of the third, Banfield was the clear favourite...

The team who finished with the most amount of points on grand final day will be declared the winner!
In the event of a draw a replay will be played the following weekend and if this still results in a tie then a two man sack race will be held on consecutive Sunday's until a clear winner can be decided

Also, because I'm obsessed with jumper numbers, no Eagles premiership side has featured a player wearing the number 12 (Wellingham), 13 (Shuey), 15 (Cripps), 25 (Hurn) or 34 (Hutchings).
Or number 108

If West Coast and Hawthorn make the grand final, West Coast would have played 3 teams in Grand Finals twice - and no other teams.

I was thinking about that the other day, how weird. But I guess when you think about it, it's not all that unlikely. The years we made GF's have all been close together, so I guess it's logical that the same sort of teams will still be good too. The only slightly weird one is Hawks, a 14 year gap is pretty crazy.

Hmm...the math is strong with this one.

haha, whoops:drunk::drunk: surley 1991 was on 14 years ago, I remeber the 90's like it was yesterday!!

24 years is even more of a spin out though, that we've both been up and down, and now could possibly meet in another GF.

For those that don't know, we are playing a Prelim final this week......

At this time of year, the media usually tries to come up with interesting statistics to try and predict what will happen.

Holy shit! A team that wins a preliminary final has a 50% chance of winning the premiership!
