We won a flag without a gun forward. Kelly has speed, skill, footy iq and is tough to boot. Our delivery into the F50 is beyond atrocious, we dont even give our forwards a chance.
We need more than just a gun mid I’m afraid, but it would be a start!

With the list we have at the moment we were bound to take a tumble. Since 2016 we've lost M.Boyd, Murphy, Picken, Stringer, Hamling, Roughead, and Dahlhaus. Morris and Dickson are in their last years, and T.Boyd has hardly played.
Of the above I think we miss Roughy the most (even though he was a whipping boy for many here).
I don't see how we could have avoided bottoming out and I don't blame Bevo at all for this.
Miss Roughy??? You have got to be kidding!!??
The guy was just sh1thouse playing for us for 2 years just like Dalhlaus.
We don't miss those guys one little F&*^ing bit

So because Dal was tough to work with JMac left?

Silver lining.

Thought desperately taking a worse offer than Dodo's first lowball offer for Stringer was horrible.

But then JMac gave away Scully for free.

Gotta love the silver lining.

Agree I wasn't sold on JMac's list management yet I know the club wanted to keep him and get rid of Dal. Funny business footy, personalities count for a lot, even ahead of performance in some cases!

Third man up killed Rough as a ruckman. He’s very limited as a defender and that’s the only position we could play him in. Would probably pick Trengove ahead of him if we actually decided to play a tall back.

No? Stringer and Dickson were both guns in that 2015-2016 period. Even when Stringer started to have his issues, he still kicked like 40 goals that year. Meanwhile our top goalscorer last year our top goalscorer was Billy Gowers with 26, who is currently one of the worst kicks in the competition.

Our midfield is fine, a player like Kelly should not be a priority. We have a 0% chance of getting him anyway.

Based on what? Schache’s last two games have been two of his worst in his career. I don’t know how you could call that improvement

Naughton’s last 3 have been pretty ordinary apart from at 20 minute patch that only Carey at his best could emulate. I don’t blame Naughton because no key forward can play well in our team. We just need to persevere with Schache and give him some slack. It not his fault he is at a club with an inept game plan, poorly skilled players who cannot hit the side of the barn and a coach who plays favourites and cannot admit his game plan is inadequate.

Yes, we’ll said and I agree. Our midfield’s lack of foot skills are hurting us big time. That’s why I can’t work how we haven’t put Daniel on a wing where he can hit up our forwards with his smart decision making.

Have to agree to disagree bud..Stringer was far from a gun during the 2016 finals series. Gowers has kicked 33 goals since the start of last year, Stringer 39. Thats a good effort from a kid still learning the game.

I think our inside mids are fine, the outside boys are really struggling.

The problem with Schache is more about effort. You can see Naughton busting a gut to get into the play. There were promising signs in the first two rounds but in the second two Schache didn’t hit packs and didn’t really chase.

Won’t give up on him yet but unless he reliably gives a contest and pressures defenders he won’t be a regular. If he does that and just doesn’t get a kick because delivery is awful that’s different.

I understand his effort is not always there but it has improved but is still not up to the required standard. He is a work in progress but patience is required. He will have good and bad games with intensity. Naughtons effort is on the Morris level and would be in the top few in the club so it is hard to compare to him. I believe he can get there and be a valuable forward in the future.

We’ve busted through the madness ceiling. Half the list including Bont to be moved on, plus the coach, all assistants, the President and all board members. Not sure if the boot studder survives the cull. The same people would then be up in arms when Barrett declares the club in crisis!

Im a rollercoaster dogs supporter. My emotions affect my posting at times (i wanted to sack bevo on Sunday night out of pure anger).

The more rational version of me refuses to believe that someone who was assessed as having the highest emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills in his coaching interview is failing to grasp the players. Not to mention someone with as much successful football pedigree behind him make as many bold moves without some sort of method behind the madness.

He wouldn't be handy?

Lewis Young, Roberts and Schache aint exactly setting the world on fire at the moment and Trengove can't get a game.

Or perhaps you'd prefer is to go even smaller? Yeah that's working well for us...

Pains me to say this but I think at the very least at end of the year there needs to be a complete review of the full department, if we keep dishing up what we did on the weekend then I'd also be content with Bevo leaving mid year and an experienced VFL coach like Gary Ayres coming in as caretaker.

When it comes to players well there a quite a few who aren't performing but the one that stands out is Mitch Wallis, clearly the game has passed him by and he is a complete liability any time he goes near the ball these days... it's sad to seeing a once proud champagne poodle declining so much.

Unfortunately this year is a write-off
Anyone want to buy a raffle ticket? - Just arrived
Funny it has Boyd & the Guy that won’t play him on the front

Where Beveridge remains coach,

- We dont want to go down the Melbourne path and piss every under performing player off but there are a few names that need to go, especially in the coaching dept.
- Hansen and Gia for one need to be moved on.
- The MC need a massive overhaul as well, they're looking out of touch.
- We need to find some players with a bit of mongrel in them (aka Clay Smith types)
- Get rid of the dead wood and go for some proven KPD's (face it - we have none right now)

In a word NO. I actually think the club has been too quick to dismiss people in the past, rather go through an extensive review process.

However there a serious concerns and Luke needs to evolve from a game plan that the ‘be all and end all’ is built on complete inside midfield dominance. This is reflected in team selection, lack of respect to opposing ruckman, the way we always commit one extra to the contest at the expense of always getting sling shot against or easy goals out the back, to the constant undersized KP selections.

The forward line is a shambles. The lack of marks we take directly in front, inability of being able to gain space on an opponent, goal kicking and general lack of forward line functioning has been sh1thouse for 8 years. Considering Chris Grant is Director of Football and the forward line dysfunction remains also bewilders.

A review is needed, new ideas should be welcome (ie new assistant coaches like the Saints, Tigers, Magpies have done). But ultimately the coach has to accept its a bit of a broken record atm and he too needs to evolve (see Hardwick, Ricoh and Bucks). His deep caring nature I am sure will see him adapt.

For the onfield, I hope we can inject pace (Richards, JJ, Lynch, Dale, Lipinski in the one side), and KP Structure with Boyd, Trengrove, Schache and Young to be regulars by round 22.

The game on the weekend has to be the catalyst. It was a very dark day that can’t be repeated.

Wallis was dropped for a half dozen games last year because he goes to ground too regularly. He's back to that so expect him to be dropped again and soon. He's always lacked leg speed but he's a goer, gets and gets to the ball and unlike more celebrated mids, rarely misses set shots from inside 50. His field kicking could do with more work. He keeps it simple, gets the ball then moves it on, doesn't try to be a Bont. He's fine for mine.

He is fumbling more and panicking in possession. Not keen on him at present.

Lol Mike, what is your problem with Hansen and Gia? Footscray are absolutely flying under Gia right now.
