With the news of Brad Sewell out until atleast Rd17 (according to Hawk's board here), I am tempted to trade for a rookie then bring in Franklin for Rioli.

The quesiton is men, do you think he is a MUST HAVE to win your league this year or has someone like Riewoldt turned the corner and would be a better buy?

I have a couple of weeks of easier games coming up after beating the ladder leader this week due to my captain selection of Ablett and him huvaing Buddy kept quiet. Am I better sitting off Franklin for now and grabbing Bartel or Harvey on the cheap?

Rioli out and Franklin in,

Sewell out, ????suggestions (will have approx 380K in bank)....

It's midnight here, just 9Hrs to go...what's the craic in Melbourne lately?

Rioli out and Franklin in,

As a footy fan, I don't like Franklin (the only player I dislike in the AFL), hence he is not in my Supercoach side for that reason. I don't like his arrogance, noting I actually like the Hawthorn Football Club (Dew, Crawford, Hodge etc)

However, from a Supercoach point of view, I think you should get Franklin when his price drops...Riewoldt is more consistent, but Franklin can score 150+ more often than not.

There are two things I dislike in the AFL

The Collingwood Football Club (doesn't everyone??)
Buddy Franklin

But to answer your question, if you can afford Franklin...get him...

buddy is bound to have a few off weeks at some point, so id hold off... In saying that, at 480-90k at the start of the yr, he was a must then... If you dont have Bartel, trade sewell for him, i think bartels sitting about 490k atm, good value for sure in him... Im making that trade this week myself, one of sewell or bateman has to go outta my side, unfortunately...

lol @ impromptu

id wait at least 2 to get him as he should be going down. I wouldn't say he is a must have but numbers wise he'd be in the top 7 forwards in the comp so id say its a matter of balancing what you can do, how many trades you have left and which way is his price going.

Im not convinced about bartel tbh, harvey (and maybe mitchell) seem to be better options for that price.

I am pretty sure Bartel has a massive B/E this week (>140) so he will go even lower in value perhaps.

My forwards are

Brown, Johnson, Pav, Porps, Chapman, Rioli, RoK - McKinley, Valenti

So really Buddy or Riewoldt would be the only 2 serious contenders to come in wouldnt they? Out of those 2 I can see Hawks winning a lot more games, thus more points scoring chances for Buddy.

Any others forwards you would suggest?

just get him in your team when the hawks play essendon.....garuanteed 9 goals and 150 + points:thumbsu:

Dammit Impropmptu playing the MORAL cards!!!:D

I have selected players I like all year and was trying to forget Buddy's arrogance and the fact that I don't really like him and the way the Hawks boys carry on a bit when they come down to Launceston (where I am originally from) to play...and now you go and make me remember!

Looking at it though for 50K less I can pick up Richo or Brown from Richmond who are averaging only about 5 pts per game less than buddy and both have high scoring potential. That extra 50K could then be used later on to get hold of Cooney or the like in midfield when there price drops hopefully in the next few weeks.

The only worry is Richmond's form. The Hawkers are sure to be smashin it all year where as the Tigers are still a bit iffy hey!

Deleidio is another option also. Funny how Richmond have three players high up in the scoring for the forwards, who would be the pick from those three?

Never thought I would even be considering drafting Richo in to my team, but in all honesty I would love to see him keep this form up and take the Brownlow!

Oh well maybe I can upgrade Porps to Buddy in a few weeks if he drops in price....

The way the comp is going as far as reports are concerned Richo could definitely be in for a chance. Goodes and Buddy are gone, if Cooney and Gaz get a 1-match suspension who could be in for a real chance.
