Is Egan gone?

I know he has not had much of a chance to prove himself at the Pies and this year he has been injured, but we need to get rid of some players at the end of the year, so Wakes & Ben Davies will go, who else goes, surely we dont loose youngsters like Goldsack, Cook, Toovey, Stanley, etc for "Ego"

Re: Is Egan Gone!

He'll get one more year IMO but next year the writing is definitely on the wall. Perform or he's gone.

And at the moment I doubt that his trade value would be worth much at all. Yes he was a top 10 pick but that means nothing now and he hasn't enough to worth anything decent at the trade table.

If we're struggling to find players to delist at the end of the year, then Egan may be a victim of circumstance.

Re: Is Egan Gone!

No. When up and running he will compliment our youthful team really well in the coming years. He won't be a star, imo, but very valuable. Just because he was a high pick doesn't mean his place on the list should be under even more scrutiny.

Re: Is Egan Gone!

I wondered what was up with him. From what I saw, at AFL level of him, he is very inconsistant, drifts in and out of games. Is is pretty skinny but very quick for a bloke his height, but he's not KPP. I think he's having trouble finding a spot to play, he can't really settle into one spot.

Re: Is Egan Gone!

if we can trade him for something worthwile, we should.

Otherwise we can delist him then grab him again in the rookie draft if he's available.

Sorry to sound so assertive and dismissive but if that happened Egan would be #1 pre season draft pick let alone rookie pick. He will not be delisted.

Re: Is Egan Gone!

There would've been a much bigger chance that he was gone if he didn't hurt himself, in a twisted way.

Because of the injury, he has absolutely no trade value, and it's way too early to delist a guy with his talent who has shown definite glimpses of what he is capable of at AFL level.

He'll have to use the lay-off as a chance to get a jump on the pre-season, get himself bulked up and super-fit, with 2008 as a definite final chance to prove himself.

If we gave Tex Walker 5 years, Egan definitely deserves 3.

I am amazed at how quickly people come and go when assessing players. Couple of weeks ago Danny Stanley was sure to go!
Egan has shown potential and potential sometimes needs time.
He could become a victim of circumstances but I am sure the coaching staff would have marked as someone who will develop and will hold onto him if possible.

nah he is injured, but given the current form of some players i dont know if he will be good enough to make it back into the side! not worth delisting. tradeable given our recent draft record.but i would be more inclined to keep him

Must stay on and will stay on. Injury will see him miss the rest of the year, however possesses all the tools to make it at afl level. Also, you don't delist a first round /top 10 draft pick after 2-3 years. Some players just need more time. Egan will come good.

He definately must stay he has the potential to be a very good player in our team. Does everyone forget how he performed for the 2nd half of last year in only his second season of afl??? for the last 10 games he was averaging something like 17 possessions a game and kicking goals. He is quick, agile and has that x factor. Imagine in two years time a mature pendlebury, thomas, egan and clarke running through the midfield. We must at least give him one more season where he has a chance to show us what he can do.

this is possibly one of the reasons why he may also be considered as tradeable with a few others doing the same job he may be best suited for. he's certainly worth perserving with but he also has trade value which could come into play.

What trade value does he have? He hasn't shown a whole lot on the field and he now has a semi-serious knee injury. His trade value at the moment is very low.

The fact that he was a top 10 pick two years ago doesn't give him a lot of currence today at the trade table.

Top 10 pick who has talent

He was in our best 22 at the end of 2006, he kicked 12 goals in the final 8 games of 06, and was providing a good target whilst Taz and Rocca were struggling

He has done much more than Rusling who was taken after him in the same draft

As Vince McMahon would say: NO CHANCE IN HELL!

He was coming of age before he got hurt. Will shine next year.

Don't know if there is a spot for him in our side. Has talent but could be another Jeff Haywood. If all else fails we can trade him to Essendon just like Cole.
