Is 2008 the year that B. Mclean should be made captain?
Personally i think its the right time, We have a new coach coming in he should install a new captain.. The earlier he does it.. the more experience he will have the further into his coaching tenure.
Neitz has been a great leader for so many years but i think its time the burden was passed.. Last year i felt he did not enjoy his football with the pressure of the captaincy and the bad year we had.. its time to let Neita enjoy his footy again in the twilight of his career, let him do what he does best take marks, kick goals and intimidate the opposition.
Now some people might argue Mcleans off field incidents in Greece and Germany during the off season this year means he does not deserve it.. but i understand the club completly cleared him of any wrongdoing and he was just standing up for himself and his mates.. certainly a quality you want in a captain.
The thing that strikes me about Mclean is the real desire to succeed, in only his 3rd year at the club this year and injured he had no problems telling some of the playing list to pull their finger out at various times this year, he was born to lead men, and it's time we let him.
