Is It Woewodin?

Read an article put on the main AFL board about the fact that Woewodin may be the player traded away to fit everyone under the salary cap. This may upset one or two people here, but unfortunately, we must face facts.

Corcoran has said that players on high money who were under performing would figure heavily come trade time. I breathed a sigh of relief here, as Yze and Johnstone had stellar years and will be high priority to be re-signed. And I think they will be re-signed. Powell will be too, although he hasn't had a top year, you can't blame him after coming back from a shocking case of OP.

And I think from the way they are talking, three players could well come under scrutiny.

Woewodin
Robertson and...
Leoncelli.

To be honest, after trade time and all that, if we still had Yze, TJ and Powell on our list, I'll be chuffed. We have Ward, Whelan, Walsh, Brown, Green, Godfrey, Armstrong and others who can slot into the midfield also, so we are not under strength there.

What does everyone else think?

I have no problem with trading Woey, my main problem is whether WA clubs can fit him under their salary caps and whether or not they are willing to trade quality for him.

Wouldn't mind Daniel Kerr for him if he costs less, but I would think that with our youngster policy, we will more than likely want a draft pick, and 1st round for him would be fine with me.

Weak draft is another problem, but as in the article I posted in the other thread, Freo and WCE would have trouble fitting Woey's salary under their salary caps.

I'd be sad to see Woey leave. He has been good for the Club. I don't think Powell deserves a pay rise. Missed 2001, did not set the world on fire this year.
Back to Woey, I don't think he deserves what he is getting at the moment, who knows, he might take a pay cut
I am quite happy for Leoncelli to go.

But Yze and TJ have to be the number one priority.

There is no doubt that he has been great for the club, and in fact, in retrospect, it would probably be bad for the club to see him go. We got by when Wiz left, but Woey has been great within the club as a leader, seeing as he is Vice Captain.

People look at Robbo as indespensible too, and sometimes cos of his media work etc. It's what he does on the field that counts most of the time, and he isn't much of a leader really. But I'd like to see Leoncelli go to Sydney, and with a few others going, we should be right.

Yze is the best player at our club, and Johnstone would go close to being top 3. Those two MUST be signed if our future is to be secure!

i hate to admit it but i do agree with your order... although id say powell and woey would be on the same line ...

Yeah I know It's just that we got so much rubbish over the Farmer stuff last year, I get jittery this time of year.

I am with you too mate - and if the Brownlow votes are anything to go by, Yze and TJ MUST be signed in the coming weeks, no matter what the cost. Woey and Powell both polled 3 votes each - ironic eh?

what i dont get is that woewodin had a much better season this yr, yet polled higher last yr rather than this yr...

Woey had a good year. I was pleased with his consistency & his use of the ball. He only deserved 3 votes this season though I thought, but if they had a 4th vote he would've got a few more .

If he stays he'll be handy next season but if he wants to go I'll live as long as we get something in return.

same ere...sure he is my favourite player, i'd HATE to see him go but if he wants to go....but i think i'll be safe..well we will be...from all reports he wants to stay IN melbourne AT melbourne

actually thats probable true... alot of the time, he played really well, but sat just out of the top 3... i think they should change it to better match his playing ability!
