Hi, im not big on posting threads, anyway half of my opinions may have already been mentioned. Anyway i'll have crack.
1. Is MM trying to use reverse pyschology by saying " they can kick - hit targets - we can't kick/hit targets? ( he was kinda right howver its pissed me off )
2. How would the players feel/think hearing this/would they give S**T? I think it's pretty negative stuff.
3. If supporters are calling for MM 2B sacked, then who will be the next coach?

IMO the next coach might n i'm just saying might have the same initials, Mick McGuane, any thoughts?

Thanks and look forward to reading any replies.

GO THE MIGHTY PIES.

Re: Is Mick playing mind games mind games or has he lost the plot.

He was just stating the bleeding obvious. We miss too many targets and make too many skill errors.

im no expert just asking your thoughts, im just a passionate fan, \ just thought he should praise his players on air/tv and im sure he does in private,

Need to chill out and not be so angry, cant help it cause i thought we had red hot go.

Re: Is Mick playing mind games mind games or has he lost the plot.

I think alot of your questions have been semi answered in previous threads anyway.

I think MM is just telling the truth. He needs to beat home the fact that the gallant loss was not acceptable and perhaps he was trying to deliver a message to his players that they need to work hard, stick to the gameplan, be disclipined because if they think they'll win most games on skill alone they are kidding themselves.

Fair enough. After all he is the coach and knows better than I. I shouldn't let my anger take over and once again I apologise if Ive come accross as a tool and offended all you guys.
PS/ i did mention that some of these questions may have allready been asked.

Sorry Pedro. Hopefully we can only get better, it's only round 2, n i dont know about going sideways /backwards, see what we did against the kangas when we went direct and didnt stuff around with it. Top effort by the boys anyway, think i should get some sleeep. All the best.

Re: Is Mick playing mind games mind games or has he lost the plot.

mich is the right man for the job... for now... if we arent top 4 this year ill be very disappointed... then we can fast track burns for coach..

Burns would make a top coach, hes a real hard nut with footy smarts and bucks maybe one day too.

Re: Is Mick playing mind games mind games or has he lost the plot.

Malthouse doesnt have a game plan and he has been coach long enougth so if the players skills are that bad then thats his fault being the coach and he should just give up.

Re: Is Mick playing mind games mind games or has he lost the plot.

Mick maguane is not involved with any footy team this year.He is part of the breakfast team,on radio Sport 927 (and for all the baby boomers that used to be the old 3uz)Mick has counterpart Michael Christian, another collingwood legend wityh him on radio.
I have asked about coaching collingwood ,we dump into each other from time to time, and he is interested but hasn't been approached.
He should be given a chance,i reckon because he has got a very good footy brain.Premiership player, has been senior coach at Bernie and gisbourne and taken both clubs to premierships and was assistant coach at richmaond and the saints.
He is ready to coach the pies but are we ready to get Mick maguane?
Why not ring sport 927 during breakky call back and tell him he is needed at pie land?

yeah maybe Mick has had his day. His been coaching forever and I presume they won't sign him after 2008 and he'll retire. I think the next coach in line is Bucks but rumors it could be Mark Williams but that's very unlikely though lol

the mark williams rumours are years old. I doubt it'll ever happen.

As for presuming we won't sign him after 2008, you probably wouldve said that about 2007 had his contract not been extended just months ago.

Firstly Mick Mcgaune will never coach and AFL side unless he fixes his personal life. I know many people who have played under Mcgaune and while they say he is an outstanding coach at country level and reads the play as well(if not better) than anyone they all agree he carries way to much baggage to coach and afl side. His well documented problems are what will hold him back and from what I know he does not seem to care much about changing his lifestyle. I also hear he has quite a bit of work to do on his communication with players. So Mick is a long way off even being considered in a senior role.

As for your point on Kicking Mick is spot on. We are the worst kicking side in the comp. The stats prove it. We lead clangers in the afl last year and we lead them in round 1. I have not seen the round 2 stats but I am pretty sure we would have been right up there. Poor field kicking lost us the game. I have no problem Mick saying this.

Other than that I agree MM should not have been given an extenstion. He should have at the very least been made to wait until the year is out.

I totally agree on burns. I think down the track he will be an outstanding afl coach. Very calm(paul roos like) constructive, does not rant and rave and understands the game well. Also knows what hard work is about and would not doubt be very respected. Would need to do his time first. Maybe 3 or 4 years as assistant and then I have know doubt burns could step into a senior coaching role.

Re: Is Mick playing mind games mind games or has he lost the plot.

Anyone but MM

Tony Shaw. LOL. Nah seriously MM has had his time and I work close by to Big "Charlie" Jame Manson. His opinion is that it should be another former Pies player, someone who has total respect, good values, patience and footy smarts and not be afraid too experiment. LIkes Sheeds.

Re: Is Mick playing mind games mind games or has he lost the plot.

Not too sure, last year he was with the saints, thinks hes at the tigers ????

Pretty sure Mick McGuane is coaching the Balwyn Tigers in the EFL. While Balwyn usually dominates in the amatuers this is a huge step down and i dont think he could coach in the AFL unless he got back in as an assistant somewhere.

I think MM is trying to shape a culture of "no excuses" and to not be content with getting close. Rather than just say "yeah we got close what a fantastic effort that was, lets all have a party about it", he wants them to be wanting to win no matter what. I think this is a good thing. I remember in 2002-3 we had that attitude of having a crack and playing to win. Somehow a side that no one expected to do much made the GF and despite everyone doubting us of doing it again we did. So I have no problem with him giving a spray, particularly when its warranted. Our skills have been very ordinary for awhile now.

As for whether its time for him to move on I think it might be. I think the game has changed substantially from when he started and I wonder whether he's adaptable enough to adjust to the current way the game is being played. Look at Sheedy, that guy is playing a HF line with Jetta, Lovett-Murray and Davey. Seems like madness, but its working.
