Is my DVD player dead?

So I was sitting down watching TV, DVD player turned off yet plugged in at the wall. I hear a small bang from the power point, always something that fills one with confidence. Now my DVD player doesn't work. I try to turn it on and nothing happens.

Could I get it fixed? Or is a new one required?

Other things work fine in that power point, so presumably the DVD player.

if its still under warrant try talking to the manufacturer...they mite replace it for u

if its a high standard DVD player you should get it repaired...if its a regular 50-100 dollar one dont bother. just get a new one.

yeah, dvd players are cheap as chips now....

I think I've got like 10 or 12 including all my pc drives

sounds like your old one got killed by a power surge

its almost better to buy those 90dollar ones use em for 6/8months til they break then by a new one

no probs mate this happened 2 yrs ago i was just saying things that go boom are great excuses to update. the amp is long gone.

When I was a teenager, I had this REALLY great old vacuum tube record player/AM/FM radio, which my mum turned on everyday in the AM to wake me for school. One day I went off to school without turning it off, and when we got home, the house was full of acrid smoke and the vacuum tubes were all burned out from the heat. The unit was from the 1930s and we couldn't get any replacement tubes. The house stunk for about a month.
