Is Nic Nat over-rated?

It's obviously all in the mind though as the players seem to grow another leg when Nic plays. Why can't they play like that whether Nic plays or not.
Ummm its quite obvious isnt it? Our other ruckman are unable to deliver the ball to them or create speaces as well as Naitanui?

It's like asking why a full forward does better when their midfield is on top

That poor Irish player he tackled didnt know what hit him haha :D
It was slightly more awesome than the rain of beer than fell on top of everyone as that mexican wave went around.

I have sen the last two games live. I don't engage with vic fans on this because of the inherent bias with some.

Forget the goal against GWS. Without his ruck and more importantly his power and handball in packs we would not have been in the game to win. He was the difference.

I suggest his influence in packs against the hawks was as significant - watch the replays carefully.

I think he has the best in close handball since that carlton dog. (Not for discussion outside WC)

I think you're forgetting that we probably have had the best exponent of the handball since Greg Williams. The one and the only Daniel Kerr.

Incredible response from the media the last few days, with the media blowing up this recent knee injury to front page news.

Journalists have been using phrases such as Nic Nat is our talisman or that he is our most important player. And that without him you can write off our finals chances.

Now Nic is no Cuz, or Judd or even Cox, he is arguably a top five player, but not number one.

I think this team will go okay in his absence, we will miss his presence in the contests. But lycett and our midfield should be able to cover him.

But I do not think he is our most important player or our talisman. To me this current team only has a couple of players who fit this category.

Kennedy and Shuey

Please discuss

Think he has more influence than Cox, but that is, no doubt, an unpopular opinion.
Definitely more important than Shuey.

I still standby JJK being our most important player. Nic second most important.

LOL at the responses, we won today against the 2nd best team in Adelaide without him. Kennedy was named best on ground today, Shuey was one of our top players. That's 6/7 wins without Nic Nat this year. Premiership sides in recent years have not needed a dominant ruckman.

When the game is on the line, Nic doesn't lift, yes he kicked the game winner against GWS but most of the hard work in that 4th qtr in that game was done by Shuey.

Off the field he is immense, on the field, he just doesn't do enough for me to be considered to be our most important player or be talismanic.

I think tonight showed that he can be covered, but is he that important to our game plan and midfield? I don't think so.

Sorry, I couldn't hear you with your chest so puffed out and all.

I'd much prefer him than Giles, Giles pulled one out of the hat tonight.

Nic's been doing the hard stuff for years now.

And make no mistake, he is a midfielder for us, not just a ruckman.

But you enjoy your gloat. :thumbsu:

I come in peace, and extend an olive branch. Whilst it's no secret I consider you Eagles (fans not necessarily the players, except Shuey. Oh and Priddis) to be a bunch of dumb ****wits. However I do wish to set aside this heathy banter aside for the time being if that's ok. I just wanted to express that I think it's a damn shame about Nic Naitanui's injury, especially after all he's been through, you can't deny he's a star, on and off the paddock. I hope he has a speedy recovery, and comes back bigger and better than ever! Right, white flag lowered, get stuffed you w***ers!

Saying you come in peace, then calling the entire fan base you're addressing "dumb *******s" in the very next sentence isn't coming in peace you dumb *******

As a footy player...probably. In Perth he is. A good footballer who can ruck really good...Is he an elite footballer who can do the 1% stuff...nope. Kicked a few goals after the siren...He goes ok...thats all im saying.

As what he can bring to the club.. $$$ wise...no way. We got the Beckham of AFL. Could advertise him on anything and it would sell in this city.
