SEN shouldn't be paying him to criticize other coaches. Wallet has the audacity to criticize coaches' structures, then mention cheap possessions and clangers, when he was a prime offender. How can he criticize team lists on TAC Future Stars, when he doesn't want to be blamed for Richmond's recruiting? A bit rich, "Wallet".

I agree. But as much as he's a knob, he has to earn a living and if a company is silly enough to pay him to give his thoughts on teams/structures, even though everyone knows his credentials then so be it.

I think CH 9 and SEN both know that Wallace will have an opinion and even though people may not like him, they will want to listen to what he has to say so they can be bewildered and this in turn brings in ratings.

He's the last guy you'd want advice from when talking about youth. He never had the balls to play youth. He would of debuted Martin in round 10 after 10 Coburg best on grounds. Tosser

All our players are 20 to 40 games behind in their development because of him.

Wallace is not to blame for our recruiting. The club should have had a genuine recruiting department set up.

He is to blame for development, the lack of a focused gameplan, and attitude, but none of these things are what he is talking about. He's talking about areas he does know about. Structures are something is more than qualified to talk about, and his comments about lists seem to have been spot on so far.

A very astute observation... :thumbsu:

ive been a staunch opponent of wallace and his philosophies from almost day one.
i was one of few when miller went so hard to get him who vociferously disagreed with his credentials to build a list.
but to say he didnt have the balls to play youth is wrong.

he gifted far to many games to far to many including the kids.
hes not guilty when it comes to not playing kids his crime is having no idea how to set structures and goals for the kids he did have.
lets have a look see. of the 04 group up to the end of 09.
deledio played 106, tambling 95, mcguane 54, moore 65 who had a lot of injury pattison whos now gone played 50 odd,
05 foley 84, thursfield 53,
06 psd white 54, polak for us 35 edwards 47 riewoldt 46 connors 10 collins 10. ther last 2 had sound reasons why they had so few games. in collins case op and size the least of the reasons.
07 graham a rookie listed unco ruckman 18, king 41 cotchin who had failed to have a proper pre season 25 rance 15 morton 38 in two yrs and is a good example of what wallace got wrong.
08 vickery 9, post 7,
please explain to me how wallace failed to give kids games.
under wallace those who have survived have been given ample opportunity.in fact you could argue many were ready to take the next step.
no giving kids games to a large degree was not wallaces failure. as stated it was his inability to turn over poor performers and set decent structures and goals for what kids were good enough.
while im glad to see the back of wallace i think people do blame him for anything and everything.

Managing a footy team involves a whole bunch of process, Recruitment, list management, development, player motivation, game day strategies, etc etc. People have different skills. Wallace may have his in "list reviews", as Laidley has his in Match analysis.

A great coach is primarily one that the players bleed for, and has a balance of the skills and the necessary support around him to achieve the rest.

Not all of what went wrong at Tigerland was Wallaces fault, but as long as Wallace doesn't offer advice in areas of player motivation or player development i don't care.

agree he didn't do a great job for us, but i must admit that i've been pleasantly surprised at some of the positive things i've heard him say about the tigers this year. he's shown a little bit of humility and seems happy for the club, despite the rough end to his tenure

he's like the anti-robert walls

I agree very much with Santa. To say our players are 20-40 games behind in their development may be true, but it is not due to Wallace not giving games to kids. There's a big difference between gifting games and giving opportunity where earnt. Anyway I'm glad we appear under DH to have got it right and moving in the right direction.

Let's move on.

I do not think he actively tried to make us crap. Some here seem to think so.

If we achieve success in the next few years, he will have to receive a modicum of acknowledgement for his role.
