Just a small thought - in the past I've been frustrated by the lack of blocking and shepherding in the game. So many times a player will give off a handball and then do nothing to protect the receiver. Such a simple thing, but rarely executed it seems.
Now this year, it seems to me that Adelaide at least (because I watch them the most) seem to have bought back the shepherd/block. The way we play is tailor made for the shepherd - numbers at the contest, a string of close in handballs to get a player in the clear, and the "giver" then blocks for the receiver. Perhaps an under-rated contribution to our success.
Is it just my imagination?
