Have a 1999 Magna if you want it lol and can get a roadworthy on it too if easier for you for $2200. With rego, if you haven't got all the money at once, get a Health Care Card and pay 6 Months. You get $90-$100 off per year.
 
You get what you pay for, not that I have noticed because I haven't had to buy many.
Well... not really. A panel on Camry is no worse than a panel on a Honda, but they're very different prices. It's about sourcing etc., not quality.

Don't get me wrong, I own a Civic and I love it, but repairs are nasty.

I was addressing the first part of your statement, thinking you were talking about mechanicals. Panels I have no idea about.
 
I'd say it holds true for most mechanicals as well. Toyotas and Mazdas are not exactly unreliable cars - or at least nowhere near unreliable enough to justify the price disparity on some parts (others are quite comparable). The stupid thing is that it mainly seems limited to Australia.

Like I said, I get the impression it's mostly a sourcing issue.
