Isaac Quaynor injury

If it's not a banned boot which seems to be the case, for a senior coach to come out and accuse a first game player of cheating is unprofessional and a real shithouse act. Then when called out shrugs his shoulders and says I got told by players they were bad. Nothing would make me happier than seeing this arrogant piece of sh*t end his career with not a Grand Final win to his name.
Ripper melt

Fingernails and boot check use to be the go. These days it’s have a good game guys and rule of the week.

Whether the boots are allowed or not is after the accusation was made without evidence - all I said was its a risky move. Turns out it looks like he was right. But I thought Bucks was savvier than to make accusations without evidence which is what he conceded to in his tweet.

Hopefully no permanent damage to Quaynor's leg.

For the life of me I can’t figure out how even metal studs could do that much damage.
I and everyone in my team played rugby with metal studs for more than 10 years and I’ve never seen anything like this at all, and we were deliberately racking at people with those studs in rucks.
Yeah you’d occasionally get some blood, but that looks like someone has gone at his leg with a razor blade

Extremely unlucky but it could have been even worse. If Quaynor trailed slightly further behind, that boot could've caught his neck instead.

Really have to question why they (whoever is at fault amongst Wicks, Sydney and the AFL) didn't consider how dangerous it could be

Let's not try to pretend this is just a Collingwood issue. It would be the same if it was an eagles player. It's a society issue with social media.
Dumb campaigners are dumb campaigners no matter what team they follow. And then you will have the people that enjoy a dogpile or witch hunt.

Yep, evidenced by the pile-on on Buckley in this very thread because he may or may not have incorrectly assumed metal studs at the presser.
What a non-story..

Who says it’s not a banned boot? Just because you wear them doesn’t mean they aren’t illegal.

Rules state metal studs can’t be worn, this boot has metal studs, Ralphs tweet states the Swans have even admitted to that. Might be an oversight but it is illegal.

I copped a rake above the knee once and got torn open. Plastic studs too. Not as big as Quaynors gash, and looked like less of a slice and more of a tear but it's possible I guess. Just VERY unlucky the poor lad.

That's a good point. What if Quaynor slipped and those studs ripped open his neck or his wrist? Could be a life threatening incident. Surely all "hybrid" studs have to be banned

Will be interesting to find out how widespread they are amongst the comp

Feel free to provide a link to where Wicks is accused of cheating. I’ll eat my words if you can.
But to me Buckley seemed to say he could have had metal studs, which is a thought that anyone with an idea of footy boots would have had after seeing how severe the injury was. Buckley then called out the journalist for saying that he had made accusations (a strong word), not the other way around. No mention of the cheat word.

You may disagree with his approach, but talk of defamation and cheating accusations are laughable going by what was actually said. At this stage it’s as much on the AFL, as you say if it’s not a banned boot, and so doing this publicly actually forces their hand and the issue.

I think Sydney, Wicks, the AFL, or whoever should post a picture of the soles of the boots so we can see for ourselves what he was wearing.

If the boots are illegal, (and I do NOT think that is the case), I would expect fine/suspension.

More likely Wicks is using a dangerous but approved, common design whose approval should be revisited. As pies supporter, I was ready to crucify him before learning more facts; I'm glad I did not because reading here and other sources I can't blame him at all.

Sometimes a freak accident is, in fact, a freak accident. Gutted for IQ though. Finally showing some sustained form and now this.

From the footage I cannot see how stops caused a gash like that. I think it's more likely when his leg drags along the surface something in the grass has caused it. Sprinkler head, pegs from covers have been found during matches before, trainers scissors have been found before. Would have to be a ruck contest or similar with somebody going studs out straight into a shin to cause damage like that.
