Not quite as brutal as Ambrose but there are a lot similarities. Sometimes unplayable coming from that height. Australian's have always struggled with the tall lanky fast bowlers. Did for years with the Windies.

Everyone struggled with the Windies though.

Name a tall fast bowler from another country we struggled against.

Steyn and Sharma in the same team now that would be a great combination. Is M. Johnson better than these two?

yes johnson is much better because he doesnt rely on cheat reverse drift like sharma

Can't wait to see him bowl on the English wickets. He is a gun and one of the most exciting fast bowlers to watch in a long while.

I'm looking forward to that as well.

He has definitely got plenty of talent, height and hair. Bit like a young Glenn McGrath.

He's more like Jason Gillespie. Bowls the same way, does the same sort of things as what Dizzy used to do. Even takes wickets in the same way as what Dizzy used to do.

There hasnt been any other fast bowlers recently of the height and build of an Ambrose or Walsh. Sharma is probably the lankiest and tallest of recent memory. One of the problems all batsmen will have against him is that he actually releases the ball above most sidescreens around the world. Means batsmen pick the ball up a lot later giving them less time to adjust. Ponting wont be the last batsmen he makes look stupid.

I remember watching Ambrose take 7/1 at the WACA a few years ago and the Aussie batsmen saying they were picking the ball up when it was inches from the bat. Similar situation with Sharma.

Imagine if there was a bowler who was about 206 cm tall?. Now that would be a sight to see.

You would want a pretty big medical team following him around "Alpha1"

We had a taller bloke than Glenn McGrath once, left armer WA paceman Bruce Reid.

Great bowler but keeping him fit and on the park was a nightmare.

Yeah I know, he had a lot of back problems.

Will Jefferson, from England, is 209cm; I believe he is the tallest Pro-Cricketer in the world (Made the England A team in 2007). Chris Tremlett, who played in a test match for England this year, is 203 cm.

And I thought I was tall being 194cm or 6ft4.5! Those blokes dwarf me!!

There's no stopping India's lucky Sharm

Jason Gillespie on Sharma:

"He reminds me of myself. He is tall and has long hair. He is sharp and nips the ball in, which was quite like me. But he is more talented than I was. He is a revelation for India and I think they should look after him."

Sharma...this kid is something else. He just has that vibe about him. Will be interesting to follow his career.

Aaron Sandilands lumbering in...just imagine that...you're the batsman :p

Yes indeed the tallest bowler I have faced was about 189 or 190 and I am only 5'8. But the good thing was that I love the hook/pull shot so most of his short of a length stuff was money for jam.
