.............you kick the ball in quickly how much easier kick ins become!!!!

I swear the coaching staff has been reading this forum during the week. Well done all, we have solved that crisis for them.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

If the melbourne coaching staff have any other problems they want us to solve feel free to post them here.

Re: Isnt It Amazing When.......

If it wasn't for those 15 mins where they got about 8 goals, we would have had an easy win. Lucky we didn't, no priority for Richmond and Naitanui is in the bag :)

I agree, they should all kick in quickly, unless there is absolutely no option for them, where I can understand the swap the ball crap. Also maybe Frawley can be band from kicking in, his mistake was pretty horrible.

I guess your one of those people who liked the win against the bulldogs last year.

What a great win.

Only cost us Naitanui AND Rich (and pick 19 last year), but oh yeah those 2 days of feeling good about the win were all worth it:thumbsu:

People who have Melbournes future at heart are pleased with the loss.

Ive been a member without fail since 1991.
Sorry for actually wanting a good squad that will lead us to a premiership in the future. Winning token games against the tiggers, i really couldn't care less this season.

My deepest apolgies, sir.

We want supporters who spew with hurt after we lose, not soft supporters like you.

Look at all the duds picked up in the first 5 picks of the draft. High picks aren't everything.

Spot on!!! As i recall judd was pick 3 and franklin was pick 5. There for all the best three players (gary ablett father and son) in the afl have been drafted outside the top two picks.

I dont know why you would even go to games if you want to lose, whats the point?

I know i go over the top asking for the heads of everyone down to the boot studder after a loss. BUT THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I WANT TO LOSE GAMES!!

Why does this debate continue to rage?

The way I see it, there are two viewpoints on the issue:

1. Supporters who don't mind losing in order to gain the best players for the future

2. Supporters who always want wins to ensure the club has a strong attitude, work ethic and culture

There is no optimal answer in my opinion. I don't think it matters which of those two categories you fall into, as long as you have the club's best interests at heart.

Like i said in a previous comment. The best three players in the afl have come from outside the top two picks in the draft. SO HOW DOES THIS HELP YOU GAIN THE BEST PLAYERS FOR THE FUTURE?

All it does is give you the best picks. It doesnt take in account anything else.

We need to learn how to win before we can get better

Obviously there is still some luck and chance involved in drafting, particularly at that age. What I would say is that 2 are from the top 5, which I consider high picks. In addition, much more science goes into selecting players these days, which improves the chance of a stronger pick.

I'm sure, despite your opinion, you can see the value in high draft picks. Look at how Carlton is developing now, there is no question this helps.

By the way, I'm still not saying losing to get these picks is the way to go, I'm just saying that supporters who feel that way are entitled to their opinion, as you are.

In addition, I agree that instilling a winning culture is pivotal to creating success over a long period of time. However, performace is cyclical, and rebuilding is necessary in certain parts of a club's history, and top draft picks can be a crictical part of that process.

The anti-taking sentiment in this board is particulalrly rife to the point where even mentioning Naitanui gets you a torrent of abuse. People should just relax, NO we should not tank, but if we do lose a game (like we did today) whats wrong with taking a little pleasure in being that much closer to the superfreak that is Nicholas Naitanui?
No one wants to be labled a 'carlton' but lets be honest, we aint setting the world on fire this year and there is not much to look forward to this year but the ongoing development of younger players and the possibility of top draft picks. Having a crack at fellow supporters is something i would expect to see on the Richmond board but not on here.

Well best you get used to it. :thumbsu:

Oh dear. Surely you can appreciate the opinions of others, as that's what a discussion forum is for. I hope this was an attempt at humour.

Im all for debate. Thats why i said best you get used to it.

Popular opinion means nothing on here, everyones entitled to their own even if no one agrees.
