I've said it before and I'll say it again....a lot of people hate us. It dates back to the 50's (and possibly before). They want us down the bottom. They hate the idea of another Melbourne premiership. Hate. Never forget the vile that was being spewed during the tanking saga.

This! Everyone liked the Tiges and felt sorry for them when they knew they would steamroll them each week. As soon as the Tiges became competitive the love stopped.

Where have we got our shit together? We still dont have a coach. And the last time I checked, the AFL were getting our shit together. Until all these changes translate into more than a paltry 2 wins in a season, I wont consider weve got our shit together.

TBH I don't think anyone is remotely worried about the MFC at this stage. Even if we sign the dream team (Roos, Walsh etc) other clubs will be marking games against us down as a win. I think this supposed hate is a genuine feeling that we are hurting the other clubs and the league in general with seven years of shambolic off-field and heinous on-field performances.

The football world is bigger than the MB on BigFooty. Posters there will always be more outspoken with stronger opinions than 95% of average supporters. Most people I know treat us as a bye.

People want Melbourne to be good out of pity.

When Melbourne is actually a good team, people hate us as much as they hate Collingwood or Carlton.

I think in the case of Melbourne it has a lot to do with the high-brow elitist culture dating back to the 50s. It was very much a class thing and Melbourne fans and players were seen as the "toffs" of the league.

Basically, a Melbourne flag is to Collingwood/Carlton/Richmond fans as a Coalition win is to Greens/Labor voters.
