I have to say i thought we did very well against the Hawks, we missed opportunity's and that is our fault. Yes some Umpiring decions were not great but seriously we stood up well and with a bit of luck we would have won this game. Critical errors are somethinga rebuilding side has to deal with, its a learning curve for the whole side. You get punished more than ever before when you make mistakes these days and we still make to many but I am sure we will continue to improve in that area.

My only issue is that senior players make the mistakes, Stenglein made two critical errors that you would excuse Mitch Brown for making. I can't even watch the TV when brett Jones has the ball, Embley makes poor decisions as does Priddis. These are all senior footballers and they should not be making these mistakes.

I liked how we played though and I think Woosha is on the right track, people complain about Hansen but I still think he is playing his role in the new game plan which is to leave space behind him. You can't judge him on Goals.

staker's performance was not a suprise to anyone was it? I bet it was not a suprise to Woosha even. his career has been like it since day 1. Which brent Staker is going to turn up today? It must be frustrating for the coaches. But we have depth now so maybe they just won't tolerate that type of inconsistancy anymore and drop him straight away. he was so exciting the week before and then produces that.

One of our forward issues I noticed not just yesterday but also against the Bulldogs was we have all our players fly for the mark and no one stays down. This happened all day yesterday where all our players went up and then the Hawks crumber the ball and away they went.

This was not a suprising result guys, we are 2-3 and have a big game next week which I hope for once is taken a little more serious than in previous years. Its a huge game and maybe its time for us to treat it as a mini final.

I like at this point where we are heading and am not that upset about losing yesterday except that we had the chances to win.
The winning will come.

Watch out Freo because we need to breath fire next week. Get past the dockers, take care of Melbourne and I think we would all be happy with 4-3 after 7 rounds.

Go Eagles

yesterday felt like we were one of the big teams we applied alot of pressure which was non existant last year, Im suprised we are this good already.. futures looking good.

Yep, I agree with all of that, except the bit about the Derby. I just don't like the idea that we put in less effort in other games.

No-one wants to see less effort in any game, but I think we do need to step up in this game.

If you want to, call it a final (seems to work for Freo:p). Lets say we need to use this game as a stepping stone to finals and bring the intensity and desperation to the game that we would to a final.

I really think we can take Freo this week, and their win kind of counts in our favour as the heat will be off them in the media in the lead up to the game.

Can we please give credit where credit is due!

Priddis has been excellent in the last two weeks. Probably our best midfielder by a fair margin.

:thumbsu: Great post gws and the next part of Woosha's evolution as a top class coach, is to work out a plan to get some involvement from Kerr, when he has a limited impact game like last night.

Not a criticism of anyone, but either the other players have to work harder for Kerr off the ball or something? I know when the other mids develop the problem will take care of itself because other teams will have to concentrate on others. I liked the ide of throwing him forward, at least he's thinking.

Priddis had a poor game yesterday and while he played well the week before Kerr was our best midfielder by a mile.

Priddis kicking is poor and most know that.

I have no idea what game you saw on Saturday but we were clearly looking at different games.

Priddis was not only one of our most productive players, not only in possessions sence but also his work in close, but was efficient with his kicking also. In fact I was very suprised at how much penteration he was getting with his kicking. I never realised that he could kick 50meters.

I am not sure how many clangers he had but would be suprised if it was more then 5 and given the rain and the wind I would not even hold that against him.

Priddis was very very good do not mistake that.

Note I said that he was our best midfielder over the last two games and whilst Kerr was good two weeks ago he was barely sighted this week hence why he was not our best midfielder over the last two games.

32 disposals, 9 clearances, 14 contested possessions, 10 tackles, 5 inside 50s, 1 goal and... 1 clanger.

Thats an absolute beast of a game for an inside midifielder, far from being poor, he was arguably BOG.

Priddis is very well suited to wet weather football because there are more packs and a greater premium on inside work, and his trademark 'contested ball get/clearance/kick 40m up the line without looking' amounts to smart football on a wet day.

One clanger!

That is even better then what I thought.

I sometimes wonder if people actually watch games or do we just base our opinions on established prejudices.

In my view Priddis has worked hard on being more efficient with his delivery and we should really judge him on the way he now plays game by game and not on his games past. He needs to be given his due when he plays as effectively as he did on Saturday.

Geez, they are impressive stats. Made me go back and check that I gave Priddis votes! (Its OK, I gave him 4 it turns out!:D)
