That's right, you sit in your chair and laugh. Stick your head in the sand. Pretend it's all good, rough and tough players giving their all with limtied ability. They are going to take us to a flag, but when you stand there in a prelim final in the centre square and look at Jackson and Foley going up against Pendlebury and Swan you fall short and think we ****ed up. Wake the **** up and get real. When you look and see Graham up against Jolly your know your f'ed too.

We have too many working class short people in our team who will not take us to a premiership. Or players who have clear deficiencies. Nahas, King, Foley, Nason, White, McGuane, Miller, Farmer, Moore, Hislop, Graham, Thursfield etc. all these guys have flaws and yet some of them are good players. The problem is we have too many of them, yet they all have conter arguments to why they should be there. You need to get real and cut some of this guys or trade them for picks who are going to not have those flaws and take risks at the draft table. The club need to get real and make tough calls to get to the top.

Peace out n00b.
I guess we should get rid of Cotchin too, he's got flaws. He can't kick for goal. His goal-kicking is 50-50.
What about Deledio?? An up and down player this season.
Should we get rid of Martin as well?? He has not done well enough to cop a tag
Since we're getting rid of star players why not let us get rid of Riewoldt as well.

I disagree, and I would appreciate it if you stopped calling everyone "Feral's".

look you have said you find something offensive fair enough. i dont and i dont think it against the rules.
out of respect for your feelings i will endevour to not call people feral. it may take a little time as my posting history is littered with this saying.i cant be fairer than that.

im not here to antagonise people just make em think.i will still consider all supporters feral including myself despite efforts to refrain from useing the word.

now cheer up and loosen up you have had a win.

to me the 20 that in all likely hood will need upgrading at some stage are.
Browne, Connors, Derickx, Edwards, Farmer, Gourdis, Graham, Hicks, Hislop, Jackson, King, Mcguane, Miller, Morton, Nahas, Nason, Rance, Taylor, Thursfield, Webberley, Westhoff, White.
and in three yrs time due to age you could possibly add Newman, Tuck.
sheesh theres 24 players.
there is just 3 players on the above list who will be under 22 at the end of this yr.
a fair few you can argue are still in develoment and we still need to find out one way or another if they can offer, something and i would agree.

In principle I agree with you SC but the names in bold I feel will be important in the future and those in italics may still have something to offer even if only as depth. Remember not all of those drafted this year or last will make it making your number of around 20 in the next 3 years quite accurate, with those added onto your list it would be pushed closer to 30.

Tuck is already too old IMO and any offers at trade time should be entertained. Miller should be eased into that backroom role for which he is being groomed. (reckon he'll go round one more time then retire at the end of 2012).

It's Newman and King that are the really interesting ones. King's currency at the trade table will never have been higher than this year. He is what 27 now. Does anyone think he'll play on beyond 30? which is what would be required for him to be involved in significant finals. Could we get a decent trade for him ( he has kicked 19 goals in 10 games)?

Newman is similar, whilst he brings leadership, can't help but feel it's his destiny to retire before this current crop of players (Cotchin, Martin, Reiwoldt..etc ) really start achieving.

Martin tick
Conca tick
batchelor maybe

that is a long way short of the 6-9 , why are we even talknig premerships when making the finals is a stretch atm?

The last two matches have brought us back down to earth, so we beat essendon.....woopy do......they will finish below us

we have

lids
jack
martin
cotchin
conca
foley who can play in our next flag

batchelor
newman
edwards
Rance ( and that is a concern)

who maybe can play in our next flag

I have trouble with any more.

No Vickery in your first or second group?

I would also suggest that Houli, Grigg, Grimes, Jackson etc have a good shot at being in your second group. Not to mention the likes of Griffiths and Helbig, who are still too raw to make a call on.

Missed Vickery put him in the first group, the others only houli would possibly be in the second group, grigg unless he plays in the ruck has poor disposal, tuck MkII

Players I would try and move on at seasons end:

Nason
McGuane
Tuck
Morton

Players Id Delist at seasons end:

Miller
Gourdis
Taylor
Thursfield
Hislop
Dea
Webberley

Players who need to be replaced over the next 1 to 2 years:

Connors
Edwards
Moore
Nahas
Post
White
Graham

IMO we need another massive clean out at seasons end. I think we still have too many light weight short people in our side that when it comes to the crunch get easily pussh off the ball under pressure.

the problem with trading someone like king is that i think it would have a profound effect off field just as much as on. other then that i think king for ryder would be fair. essendon desperatly need a small pressuring forward, we have few that can play that role. probably not as good king atm but eventually, and we need a tall & athletic ruckman/forward/defender

I think we'd laugh you out of the building, jay.
King's a good scrapper but I don't think anyone's really going to be all that interested in him and frankly I'm not sure he'd be all that interested in moving.
I'm not sure which way they'll go with Ryder, personally I think he's one of those infuriating guys who coaches always struggle to let go of - but I'm damned sure it'd take a pretty good offer if we did.
