My most hated of all loaves.

Full of stupid comments in the Federer V Safin match. Stuff like:

"He's (Roger) developed some very bad habits while dominating the tour"

referring to the through-the-legs shot he tried on match point.

Also making a fool of himself by being disgusted with Federer's drop shots, calling them a "low percentage play."

Courier shut him down well saying "you mean that low percentage play that has worked 100% of the time?" :D

and... (after J.A. tried to justify his argument)...

"If that's your best defence then i'm glad you're not my lawyer." :D

Full points to Courier for not letting him get away with such tripe. He knows he has infinite more credibility than JA - so a disagreement will only work in his favour.

The guy's bitterness could not be more evident because Federer keeps wiping his wonderchild Lleyton.

_______

He would have to be far and away the worst commentator for any sort of sport. Ever.

Big call, but pretty close. Ian Chappel springs to mind.

Courier certainly tore him a new one in that argument. Who couldn't agree with wanting to see entertaining tennis rather than percentage tennis? And as Jim said, Federer tried the drop shot twice and it worked twice. JA's just bitter because it would have been a low perectage shot for him.

Dreadful commentator.

A couple more shockers.

When discussing Blake and Chela's agitation towards Hewitt in regards to Chela spitting and Blake not spitting.

"it's a cultural difference you see"

Courier - "what"

JA - "Well, one's from Argentina and one's not"

Courier - "I'm not going there JA, I have a lot of friends from Argentina"

He later made possibly the dumbest call i have ever heard.

Courier made some comment about how focused and composed Roger was when making contact with the ball

JA's response "Just like golf... keeping your head down"

Courier - "Umm...one difference. The ball moves in tennis JA"

Yeah i felt sorry for him, although Jim cracked me up when he said some things back to him last night....It sounded as though Jim hit a nerve when JA said something back, about 10min after Jims original comment. Took him so long for the worst comeback....Jim's a classic very entertaining...

I couldn't agree more. His bias is just plain embarassing.

Did anyone hear him in the Hewitt v Nalbandian crap on about how good hewitt's sister would of been this year, and how it was a real shame she had broken her arm that day. He then justified his prediction by saying how she had won her first round match in the qualifying tornament!!! I couldn't contain my laughter at that comment.

Listened to the halfwit a few years ago commentate on Scud vs Andrew Ilie. Both Australian players, yet he wasn't even commentating, simply flat-out barracking for Scud. After quite a few cans myself and my mate decided to ring Channel 7 on Ilie's behalf. Unfortunately they didn't listen and the c-ck is still there. Equal worst commentator with Pam Shriver whenever she was on.

My biggest gripe is whenever someone flat out beats Hewitt in a point, JA's commentrary is always based around Hewitt still fighting for the point and having heart, or he'll quickly point out when Hewitt ackowledges the point by saying "too good" or clapping his racquet.

Never any mention of the winner from the opposition.

I was agreeing with him when he brought up the point about Safin getting medical treatment because of soreness, I thought that was a valid point.

However when it was mentioned that Hewitt was getting the same treatment and then further mentioned that it was common this tournament for this to happen around the 2 hour mark, JA said nothing.

If its good enough to critisize one he has an obligation to apply the same rules to the other, regardless of their origin.

Exactly.

Well said.

Was I hearing things, or did John Alexander just commend Hewitt on the way he shook Marat's hand at the net?

He said "Well done mate", what do people expect him to do?

Ridiculous comment, wasn't it? Is Hewitt just going to walk to his chair without congratulating him?

********wit of the highest order.

This is where Lleyton is at his best, with his back to the wall.

He must have said that about half a dozen times during the last 3-4 games of the final set

Yeah that is the main thing i hate about his commentary. Very true.

Agreed. Courier took him apart on several occassions in commentary, funny stuff. :D

But I still think the worst commentator of all during the tournament was Martina Navratilova. Actually, there was something in yesterday's Herald-Sun about Channel Seven possibly not wanting her back next year. Apparently she was pretty demanding.

Thank goodness, she was equally as embarassing!

He did it last night too. "Hewitt gracious in defeat" All he did was shake his opponents hand  WTF?

haha yeh.

"chela is looking tired... hewitt will notice this and run him around"

chela 6-4

"ooo chela is looking tired again... hewitt will notice this and take the set"

chela 6-4 6-4

"chela is looking tired... hewitt should win this set"

chela 6-4 6-4 6-7

"chela looks tired still... he never wins 5 set matches"

chela wins 6-4 6-4 6-7 6-2

:D

classic JAism,
watching a match, cant remember which one, camera pans to the umpire's chair, courier tells the punters his name and that he hails from Tunisia, and JA comes out with this beauty, "Best umpire to come out of Tunisia i have ever seen". ;)
