He has been released/not re-signed by Geelong. He still thinks he has a year or two left.

For memory his body has held up pretty well.

I think we should go for him - he'd come free and cheap, we know what he can do, and he'd buy us a year or two until Tabener or Smith develop further.

Given all the other KPF's we've missed, i think Pods would be a good get. He's a premiership player, and proven to be more than handy.

If we could get him for cheap - why not. I'm guessing he will find a club. We could at least offer him a very settled and competitive club environment.

If Freo are going to go hard for the premiership in the next few years we could use a behemoth like Pods at FF.

The club has to address the KPF problem somehow. He may not be ideal but for short term?

At first I thought no, but reading how keen he is to go on, he might be a good fit - no guarantees to him he'd get a game ahead of Tabs if the kid steps up, pay him cheaply. Seems like it could work. I mean really, who else is there? Gumbleton can't kick to save himself and isn't really proven yet, plus his body has issues.

put it this way, if we get pods and it doesnt work, what have we lost?

I think J-pod could be a good option. He was a kicking coach for Geelong and exposure to a different club is good for coaching futures. Next year he could be a good stop gap that we need.
The recruiting people will look at him I'm sure and do their stuff and say yay or nah.
Worth a look.

there must be a reason why Geelong are moving him on.

Wouldn't be against a one or two year deal. Could imagine him on a deal like Hudson had at Collingwood, player/coach role.

Would instantly make our forward line more dangerous. When is Kep going to be running around again anyway?

For mine, bringing him over for a couple of years as cover until our younger KPFs develop would be the smart thing to do. After we lost Kep this year we had no-one else as cover. And I don't count Silvagni, Hannath, Clarke, Mayne or Smith as genuine cover at the KPF spot. They're stop gaps.

I can definitely see our forward line becoming a lot more dangerous with him and Sylvia dropped in up front. How'd our forward structure look in the GF this year?

I'm all for a one or two year deal, to provide us with a decent shot at a flag in the next year or two, and cover until a younger KPF is ready to step up.

I don't think he offers much over Kepler at this stage.

He offers a lot more than Kepler. He was our leading goal kicker in a flag year. Would have a fantastic influence on the development of young players. I think he's good for 40-50 goals and given his size he always takes a big backman.

Don't mind a long as our first round pick is still best kpp available

I think he's unrestricted; so he can walk straight over...
