I dont think they would be putting centre bounce minutes in training if they didn't think he had it in him.

Gini was a rookie for a reason….he was also selected by our previous regime.

If you’re honest you’ll understand that he doesn’t fit our current style without change.

He had absolutely no competition last year. He does this year.
That competition fits our gameplay more.
Is what it is. He needs more tools to make our team.
Tools I haven’t seen him display to date.

Some people can make a rash statement and then cant let it go, ever and it forever taints their opinion, forever.

I think now having his sister (who now plays for saints VFLW team) living in melbourne, it's gonna help tame him a bit. He's very close to his family.

His U18 Bendigo coach said he was meant to spend more time up the ground in the midfield, but then covid ruined that in his draft year.

Agree, especially considering he was a 40 goal small forward last year.
It's good to see the club make him earn his spot though, it will be a good learning curve for him in his development as a professional footballer, and not get himself back into a situation he found himself this pre-season....

I don’t think necessarily it’s the club making him earn his spot. It’s the 23 players over the past two weeks that have made it impossible to select him automatically. Or anybody else in the VFL for that matter.

It’s just bad timing for him to stuff up.

I don't think he'll ever play there.
To many better options. Ginni is one of the leading forwards in the game right now.
He's there to score goals.
We have plenty of better options including a couple that haven't played a game yet.
Ginni isn't exactly fast either.

Wont be an active mid, I agree. But coaches love players who can play multiple positions. What if he rotates with the likes of harrison or macrae in the future. We like to have multiple rotations. Even if its just starting there and drifting forward.
Who knows what the coaches have planned for him. And we may not know for a few years.

Grunt KPDs taking the occassional mark but mainly bringing it to ground to a group of lightning blokes swarming at ground level has looked pretty awesome to me. Is Ginnivan going to improve the way we're getting it done inside 50? He's a gun, but he just can't bring the same heat. What he can do though is play higher up the ground and use his smarts to find space and the skill to set things up, as well as still drifting forward for goals.

I do too see Hill more up the ground. HHF/Wing. Which I think is something he did at GWS.

Plenty of gun midfielders have lacked that. When Steele Sidebottom overtakes Coventry on games played our three top players for games played will have been midfielders that lacked pace.

dont think adams, mitchell or pendles are fast either. If you've got other attributes like smarts it can cover lack of leg speed. Its what you do have rather that what you dont have that matters.
But his attributes does work for his current role, how his role will evolve going forward remains to be seen.

True but you don't take a gun forward and say " hey let's try you in midfield".
Robbing Peter to pay Paul if that makes any sense.
We have plenty of midfielders and a few coming on. Most of them would struggle as forwards.
