I love this blokes passion and intensity but he cannot kick.. He couldn't hit a barn door with a handful of rice.
Dropping him is not the answer. Maybe play him down back and give McGuane or Moore a few games in the Front half.
I just cant see Jack ever being a dominate forward but his mobility and marking would be handy down back.

Thoughts?

Just let him improve his kicking. Stuff playing Moore up forward

Horrible idea.

Well lets leave him in the forward line so he can kick his 1 goal per game.
Yeah he is ripping it up:thumbsu:

Pretty hard when he is being double and tripled teamed as he has no support. People don't understand how hard it would be for him being the only tall, I think he's done great. Sure he needs work on his kicking but one M.Richardson has never been able to kick either and he's been pretty good. Let's take him out and have 0 talls down there and expect Nahas and Morton to kick 10 between them each week to keep us in it. Great idea. :o

His kicking is not always this bad. Last year it was quite reasonable - just need to fix up his technique a little, as it's looking good off the boot but then pulling out inexplicably.

dno how he can be cocky/confident if he's that ugly. playing him down back would be terrible. BAN OP for the suggestion. has to improve kicking skills. simple as that. hes got hands and a decent body dno why u want to play him behind some one else

we desperately need another tall forward to emerge. seems the club has given up on sarge. lets hope one of cleve, putt or goo can put their hand up.

Jack's goal kicking just doesn't make sense. He is a good field kick. Too me it looks like his grip is a little off when kicking for goal. Seems to hold the ball on an angle.

Anyway he is a forward. Would be good to have an out and out full forward so that he can play CHF and then drift back into the fifity. Great set of hands and he delivers to leading players well so half forward might be good for jack.

I said a couple of months ago that he couldnt kick and was shouted down, he obviously has been getting lessons from the the great man, his ball drop is horrendous. When is Richmond going to get a kicking coach? maybe an out of work soccer coach would help.

And unfortunately im working.

get raines senoir down there to help out, now he could kick

To be honest, at this point in time I couldn't care if he can or can't kick.

I thionk he's playing very well for his age as the focal point in the Rihcmond forward line - he's got a lot of responsibility as it is. In addition to that, he's shown more than Hughes and Schulz and at least hes presenting even if it is only in patches.

Exactly my thoughts. It's criminal how this kid is being forced to carry our forward line. He should be learning thre caper as the 2nd tall. Blame Hughes or Putt for not coming on. Would be nice to hve Polak fit and playing FF so Jack could be the 2nd tall.

Good call Tugga.
Personally I have never seen Polak as a front liner but at the same time he is big and strong and because he is such a good mark he would always demand the best backman and generally another floating in front to help out.
If he was playing as a stay at home FF not venturing more than 20 meters from goal he could be very useful as a decoy forward to create space for Jack and Mitch.
If Polak could play this role he would not have to get a lot of the ball to have a good game and it would also make it easier for Nahas to crumb to a bloke that would never be out marked.

It is a confidence thing with him. otherwise every time he plays a Coburg he wouldn't average around 4 goals a game.

Historically he has been a great kick of either side of his body. Its not confidence its pressure. He knows how important it is for him to convert every opportunity and seems to be trying to hard as a result. Another key forward would do the trick nicely and at thsi stage I would have to agree that Polak looks the best option as we await Gourdis and Putt. Sarge and Hughes seem gone sadly.

Agree it's just a confidence issue with Jack... he will be fine. (Though it is frustrating at the moment when he leads hard, takes a big grab & then shanks it!)

It's not just him actually, this years top goalkickers versus last year (left N Brown & Richo out):

...................This year versus Last year
Morton; ......28g 17b (62%) ....35g 16b (67%)
Reiwoldt; ....15g 16b (48%).....18g 8b (69%)
Nahas; .......14g 12b (54%) ....n/a
Deledio; ......10g 10b (50%) ....28g 10b (74%)
Total; .........67g 55b (55%) ..81g 34b (70%)

So last year this group were hitting at 70% & have slipped to 55%!

& look at Lids! No doubt he is an elite kick yet is hitting only 50% this season.

Skills coach? I dunno but this is a major difference...

Jack needs support he is getting the number 1 defender every week and its just to much for a 20 year old. We really need someone else to stand up and help him out. Give Hughes another chance we have nothing to lose, if he flops then we know we have to move on. He showed something last year and if he can find that form again then well that would be great and help us out a lot. FF is up for grabs but no one wants it.

Great post mate totally agree people are forgetting that we are asking a 20yr old to hold and take the number 1 position in our forward roll in our team so thats not easy so dont get to critical and has alot of upside still.I hope Hughes has another good game this week because I like this guy and he has got talent and has showed it and I'm not ready to rule out a 21 yr old kp forward thats wrong. The other is Gourdis to .

There's a bloke who plays for St.Kilda who used to be a really crap set shot, in fact when he was Jack's age he was quite abysmal in front of goal and used to go m.i.a a fair bit during games too....hmmm...what's his name again?

We could definitely do with Polak up forward. Before the accident no doubt the plan was Polak, Hughes, Riewoldt as the three talls. Jack does have a technique problem though, in the way he holds and drops the ball. Whoever said he holds it on an angle was right. Get Michael Roach back.

I noticed with Lids' shot in the final quarter (after Jack Mooney'd the pass to him) that his run-up was all wrong. He ran out to the right and consequently hooked the kick. Like plenty of others, he uses this technique when going for distance but shouldn't when only 30m out.

Must be patient with Jack. Let's not go feral on him (a minority I believe) and crucify the bloke for a few perceived on field indiscretions. Will be a good player, is a young KPF carrying the attack of a rubbish side on his shoulders, and a side that is going through the motions too. Persistence is key.

Showed his kicking skills off again today...
Play him down back and leave the young boys in the forward line to develop for next 7 games:thumbsu:
